Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

I think a Suzuki Wagon R or Opel Agila would be a good starter car. Also looking at a Skoda Fabia kombi or a Yeti maybe. Can't buy now but I like the value proposition for both. Skoda is basically an economy model VW but they have unique models on shared platforms. The Yeti is based on the Golf.
