is it controversial to think mean-spirited humor is kind of not very funny. like it can definitely work in certain contexts but when a show or movie is entirely mean-spirited it kinda loses its kick
What irks me is when a show is cynical throughout and mocks the idea of getting invested, only to suddenly demand that you care about the characters with zero buildup or thematic intent behind the switchup.
