This birthright ruling is why I just refuse to tolerate all the Democrat garment rending over NY voters choosing progressive candidates. They are incapable of governing in this moment. The politics of appeasement and centrism gets us to a 5-4 decision on the constitutional question.

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

My main opinion on the ME Senate/Platner Discourse is that we need 25 SCOTUS justices, 300 Senators in a subordinated Senate, & a massively larger House with PR & multi-member districts. But in the meantime, "Nazi tattoos should be disqualifying in the Democratic Party" is a good starting point.

Look, if we had minimally serious political institutions in 🇺🇸, “Who represents the 42nd largest state in the upper house of parliament?” would not be a question of national importance, much like “who is the 5th vote on the constitutional court?” would also not be. Alas, we don’t live in that world.

There's a huge lane for Dems to run on anticorruption in 2028, but I also think they would do well to take a look at what Zohran's doing with efficiency in NYC as a counter to this. Most people don't think that the federal government is doing fraud, they think it's wasteful.

Today is a reminder that except for a brief period running roughly from Brown v. Board to Roe v. Wade, throughout its history the Supreme Court has been a reactionary force protecting the wealth of the wealthy and the power of the powerful, almost always hostile to equality and justice.

So Philip Glass just joined TikTok. He only has like 4 posts and they’re simply him in what I assume is his living room playing the piano. First comment on one I saw was “your piano is too close to the fireplace, you’ll dry it out” and if that’s not the internet in a nutshell I don’t know what is.
