Since EU and UK partners are likely to continue sharing intelligence with Ukraine this would probably flow into a wider American cut off of information sharing through the UK's 5 Eyes and similar frameworks with France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland

10. We oughtta be building more wind, especially in seasonal climates like Europe. Solar will get built anyway, it’s cheap, but wind blows at night and in the winter. We’re going to need something to charge the batteries in winter, especially with rising heatpump use.

I returned to AskB and found the reason for the discrepancy. It’s only pulling bonds issued in the past tagged as HY that are **still outstanding** and *still tagged as HY**

Why the Numbers May Look Low
• Private Placements dominate the universe (2,645 of 4,368 bonds = 61%). Rule 144A
deals - which make up the bulk of the US HY primary market - are classified as PRIV PLACEMENT in Bloomberg's SECURITY_TYP field. These are included, but it's worth confirming they are not being inadvertently excluded in any downstream screen.
• The BQL universe only captures bonds with a current Bloomberg HY flag. Bonds that have since been upgraded to IG, defaulted, or had their rating withdrawn (WR/NR) may no Longer carry the HY flag today, meaning they could be excluded from the issuance count retroactively. This is a known survivorship-type bias in point-in-time BQL queries.
• The S&R rating breakdown reveals ~443 bonds rated BBB- or BBB sitting inside the HY-flagged universe - suggesting some cross-over/fatten angel dynamics - while conversely, some bonds rated sub-IG may have lost their HY flag post-issuance.
• The universe is limited to ~4,368 bonds total since 2011. Industry sources (e.g., SIFMA) typically report the US HY market as having issued well over 10,000+ individual tranches over this period, suggesting BQL's bond search universe may not be capturing the full population of smaller, less liquid, or matured/called deals.
Recommended Next Steps
• Cross-reference against LEAG ‹GO> on the Bloomberg Terminal, which tracks league table issuance volumes and is the standard source for primary market deal flow - it typically shows annual US HY volumes of $200-$400Bn in recent years, consistent with industry benchmarks.
• Use NIM ‹GO> (New Issue Monitor) or SRCH <GO> with a broader bond search that includes matured/called bonds and filters by original rating at issuance rather than current rating.
Within SRCH ‹GO>, set Instruments to "Corporates," add the "High Yield" filter, set an Issue
Date range, then open the Matrix tab and set Rows = "Issue Date" and Cell = "Sum of Amount
Issued" to get deal-universe aggregation by period.
• The SRCH ‹GO> Matri…

Most bioweapons leaks, it should be emphasized, are not terribly dangerous to the world. This is because of selection bias. Plague, anthrax, Marburg, and the like were all weaponized by the USSR, with the explicit goal of having a weapon that could reliably kill people without causing a pandemic.

In contrast, bubonic plague has more like a 30% mortality rate, but killed far more people than pneumonic plague ever has. It's certainly not always a 1-to-1 tradeoff (Ebola Zaire has a 70% mortality rate and has spread far more widely than Marburg) but highly lethal pathogens make poor pandemics.

FWIW, I think a fuckup on this scale in time to wreck them electorally was *almost* inevitable from Day 1, precisely because this is the Special Birthday Boy presidency in which there are almost no limits on Trump's madness and every proposed policy disaster has a real shot at going all the way.

It is amazing, and sobering, to realize that had Trump not chosen to start this war for no good reason and against the advice of many of his senior ppl, Trump and the GOP would probably be doing... Ok. Not awesome, maybe losing the house, but ok.
