Unfortunately, the macroeconomic case for the tech that AI data centers promise rests on a pointless fantasy that, if it came true, would destroy consumerism and leave much of the world unemployed & starving. Said fantasy also isn't happening, so yes, data centers are wasteful boondoggles.

There is little I can add to the outpouring of emotion, memories, and condolences today. Andy was just a really great dude. A positive presence that made me smile every time he was up here. Rest in Peace, Andy. I'm going to really, really, miss you.

Its actually hard to reshape conspiracy theorists and we have no shortage of people opposing data centers. You can't recruit MAHA folks without listening to or addressing their anti-vaccine, anti-regulation, anti-science beliefs. Unlike their meat those people are cooked.

It is very easy to shape a 5G conspiracy theorist into an anti data center crusader. And it doesn't mean you have to listen to their nonsense about needing raw milk and banning "the jab."
