Monopoly capitalism ruining studio after studio while reactionary gamers complained about black people and women in games, if you put it in a novel it would get trashed as didactic and heavy handed

A pro-life white woman ruling that a law officer was justified in killing a Black baby seated in his mother’s lap, shooting her as well because of suspicion of stealing diapers is as accurate of a summation of how the US has historically wielded its institutions against Blackfolk as I can think of.

JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.

This is one of the most overt examples of endless recycling in the fashosphere - The repeated telling of debunked lies about a targeted group (in this case trans people). Navratilova knows she is lying. It just doesn't matter in a facts-free grift of culture war bigotry.

"Tennis champion Martina Navratilova has scolded Parkrun, labelling it “disgusting and disgraceful” after an Australian transgender participant broke another record in the women’s category on the weekend." [Townsville Bulletin] Parkrun isn't a race. You don't even have to run. Dogs take part.

Authoritarian regime grabs electronic communication devices of prominent opposition member. Since it’s highly unlikely there is anything on her phone about immigration paperwork from 30 years ago we can assume this just became a fishing expedition.

Feds seized Ilhan Omar's phone and subpoenaed members of her family just weeks before the 2026 midterms:

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

This bill would abolish ICE, DHS, and CBP, transferring legitimate customs duties to other departments. It would sunset Section 219 of the INA close the Guantánamo Bay detention facility and shutter all immigration detention centers. You have my sword, milady.

Truthout@truthout.org · 2w ago

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

I am thrilled and proud beyond measure to support the amazing workers who create and design the games I and my loved ones have spent a lifetime playing. I implore everybody to sign the petition and signal boost the campaign as far and wide as we can!

Hot take: I don't think social media made people dumber. We've been dumb this whole time. It's just that you used to have to have a job that people sent their dumb letters to, to notice. This made "Engaging with fools" an occupational hazard rather than the 24/7 experience it is presently.

No matter how bleak things may seem, just remember that in the 1960s the US Coast Guard received reems of earnest letters begging them to save those poor castaways on Gilligan's Island.

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

I don't want to just dunk on Bryant, who is new in post, but successive UK Govts have been profoundly complacent about the stability of NI even after several summers of rioting. That the Secretary of State is only coming to NI now is jaw dropping.

Just to fully underline how spiteful this shit is for those unaware: On the left is the route the Orange Order have been ordered to take for the past 3 decades without trouble. On the right is the route that has brought hundreds of cops to Drumcree. The only motivation is sectarian antagonism.

That’s it. There was no stand off, somehow, during the pogroms. There were no attempt at policing. There were not that many calls for the enforcement of the law. There were no announcement made that this was unlawful. But again, we all know where Lockhart was

Elaine Crory@elainecrory.bsky.social · 4w ago

Listening to Carla Lockhart on the radio and its curious that this is the first time she has noticed police allowing the law to be broken before their eyes. This was a peaceful protest and not a pogrom mind you

Comment on Reddit about this: "My mum tried to send a gift card to someone at the council who had helped her quit smoking. They turned it down because she wasn't allowed to accept gifts." And yet some MPs (and the authorities) think it's totally normal and fine to do this...

If the Parades Commission is reformed one step that needs taken is removing this mysterious "No Backsies" rule that means when you approve a parade on incorrect information you simply cannot ever ever reverse on that decision in light of irrefutable evidence showing your decision was incorrect.
