Hey, L.A. want to take a break from the hellscape that is national politics & do something that could make a real difference locally? You can help Bill AB-2010 get passed. What's AB-2010? It's a bill that expands spay and neuter services to Mobile Animal Sterilization Hospital (MASH) units. 1/4

before you came into my life I missed you so bad
This is incredible and a huge reminder that film--even B-grade horror movies--can be art that transcends genre and medium.

shoutout to all the online comics who had to suddenly prepare Lindsey Graham material when we thought Mitch McConnell would be the one to drop
Here is Graham gloating about "killing all the right people." Just in case you see anyone try to do the whole "we should have decency for the dead" nonsense.
Also, this is a good opportunity to look at Nithya’s record, see what you do and don’t like, and demand accordingly. Her coalition for the general is as fluid as it’s gonna get right now. You want better, you gotta apply the pressure. No one gets a free pass
Actually incredible how much disdain Spencer Pratt has for the unhoused when his own house burned down. It’s giving sociopath.
LOS ANGELES UPDATE: With today's update, Nithya Raman pulls within 7,500 votes of Spencer Pratt. (She netted roughly 13K votes in today's batch of 59K ballots.) This cuts Pratt's lead over Raman (for second spot) from 3.4% to 1.1%. (Note: The city of LA has roughly 175K ballots left.)
Dashboard updated again. Today's drop: Raman 40.2%, Bass 33%, Pratt 17.7%. Well above the needed threshold, projection now says Raman will beat Pratt by 2.5 points and be 6.4 points behind Bass in the end.
She will advance. Once again bumping my projection tool (which now has a cool map) 2026-warroom.talevy.soccer

If you’re in LA you’ve got until the 13th to visit Diane Keaton’s estate auction viewing at Bonham’s on Sunset - a lovingly curated display of clothes, furniture, photography, and personal items the family wanted to share with the public. A must see.
There is a direct throughline from this and the rise in global authoritarianism. Authoritarianism is actively hostile toward the arts and intellectualism, and thus imagination. When people say that AI is a “fascist project,” this is explicitly what they’re referring to.
Something we don’t address enough is how many people, especially adults, do not have a working imagination.
Remember how less than three weeks ago the president threatened to kill an entire civilization
S/O to @truggeri.bsky.social, who has put this incredible looking motion picture on my radar - why yes, I am the target audience for a proto-MAGIC MIKE co-written by Joan Tewkesbury with a bitchin' new wave soundtrack!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx7P...

The entire millennial identity is being prepared and groomed for a version of the world that stopped existing by the time we reached it we slammed into a horizon painted on a brick wall like fucking looney tunes
Everyone skips past the 02 financial crisis because 09 was so bad. But depending on how you parse millenial...it's been bad for awhile but also the worst bit is they grew up during a period where things were getting better and then got the rug pulled out from under them.
I doubt this has happened before: 11 of this weekend's top 15 movies were made independently, inc. 4 of the top 5. There is nothing holding down overall grosses and attendance more than the fact that studios have forgotten how to do what they used to do, which is to fill the pipeline with movies.
current Oscar nominee Elle Fanning in a mayonnaise commercial is how you know the entertainment industry is kinda fucked
