Blind, queer, polyam, she/her/hers. Guide dog user and advocate. Baking, books, brat cats and brilliant dogs are a few things that make my world go 'round.

The power's out, and according to NYSEG, it's out for 18 people. My pet theory is that the construction crew doing ... something on my block broke something. (I have no idea what they're doing, but I heard a chainsaw.) This is not how I would've chosen to learn how to use the Aeropress, but...

dolly parton taught millions of children to read dolly parton raised millions of dollars for cancer research and disaster relief dolly parton stood by the lgbtq community her entire life dolly parton personally helped fund the moderna vaccine if there was a right side of something she was on it

thinking about how they were having to fire & arrest people to try to bully them into being sad about some of these fuckers, and if you want the whole world to stop and grieve your loss, there's one simple life hack: be a good person who just wants to do good things

This whole concept of trusting LLM's for things like therapy and life advice is just mind-boggling to me. I'm totally blind, and I *do* use the technology in very specific circumstances. I mostly use it for image descriptions when alt text isn't provided or when I take the pictures myself.

As painful as it is, to me, the minute anyone uses this stuff as authoritative in a discussion with you, or as a justification for their anger at you, or as support for their view of your behavior, you are safer leaving.

Some module thingy in our range broke, so the stove and oven are out of commission for the time being, so I can't bake anything. Last week, I made Boston cream pie, s'more pie, cream puffs, and cookies, so baking has obviously been one of my coping mechanisms lately... Ugh. It'll be fixed Saturday.

I have been drowning myself in baked goods and mostly avoiding the news/internet, for my own sanity. I made rugelach yesterday (with the roommate's help), and I think I'm going to do something gingerbready today. Because everything sucks and maybe warm spices will make it a little better.

Haven't been around much because I was in Albany for a conference, and then came to visit family. Also, social media is not great for my mental health, but grief has started its annual visit, so I'm sure I'll be spewing those thoughts into the void soon. And baking a lot. Just made banana bread.

"this will be an age where New Yorkers expect from their leaders a bold vision of what we will achieve, rather than a list of excuses for what we are too timid to attempt" is this what it feels like to be attracted to a man??????????????

Next week, the state affiliate of a national blindness advocacy group is having its annual convention. I have been hornswoggled into so many things by my BFF (affiliate president), including speaking on the floor about legislative efforts at the state level. Ahahaha fuck my life.

Part of the reason that it's hard to "adult" right now is that most of what you're expected to do in "adulting" is activity to set up a stable future. But most of us have felt for a long time that stability is a lie being told to us with enough "one in a lifetime" disasters every 6 months...
