This made me think. Appreciate you sharing.
In Bari Weiss' Free Press, Olivia Reingold reported from El-Sayed's watch party that "there were keffiyehs as far as the eye could see ... keffiyehs on heads, keffiyehs as belts, keffiyeh-printed phone cases." Not a single one made it into images from Reuters, a local ABC station, or Detroit News.
Okay, here we go: 1 like = 1 more time the little number goes up next to the heart
That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?
Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.
i planned to fly back from tiff on 9/14 so i could be home in LA for my birthday on 9/15..... but now do i go to nyc to see bowen in oh mary instead??????
crazy to go from shouting obscenities at fauci in congress to this in like, a week?
Moreno on Max Miller: "My daughter lives in constant fear of this man ... you can't fathom what that makes me feel like when the dad's number one job is to protect your kids... if there's any minimum standard for being an elected official, he feels to meet it. I don't care about the politics at all"
nothing quite like being furious before noon on a monday
neko case opening the tap, i feel like the stories about glen hansard currently going around on reddit might soon get louder: nekocase.substack.com/p/in-what-fu...
IN WHAT FUCKING UNIVERSE?
This last week I was just cookin’ along minding my business when I suddenly found myself quite depressed.

a byproduct one company owning most of the hollywood trades is that they’re more beholden to access journalism than ever before. if one trade publishes an unflattering story of a celebrity or studio, that could affect the other publications’ editorial and sales. thus, fewer stories of that nature.
Speaking of that "The truth is, a bombshell like the BBC’s documentary should not be necessary, as there were published reports of Mr. Leto’s sleazy behavior as early as 2005."
disclosure day was a perplexing mess, but janusz kamiński is a goddamn maniac. how did he do all that!!!
i have to finally to myself and god that dave matthews band’s crash is one of the ultimate summer albums
Had nooooooo idea you could just ask Amy Adams and Javier Bardem to just do all that. How did the Cape Fear people figure that out.
related: this is why no amount of money could convince my inexperienced dumbass to run a NETWORK NEWS DIVISION
I’m only now realizing that, given the massive holes it has to fill, we’re about to see The Washington Post op-ed page cycle through a truly historic number of dipshits with less-successful Substacks learning in real time how hard it is to write an 800-word newspaper column.
i keep coming in last place in my music league and it's breaking my fucking spirit
did the full moon make everyone crazy because the vibes have been extremely bad this week
I've seen a lot of fellow writers post stories about getting shafted. Most don't name the outlet, and I don't blame them one bit. Times are terrible. You could still wind up needing a gig from the place. So I deeply admire Jason for having the guts to name Vulture and give the details.
Well, it’s invoicing day, and since they’re really apparently not going to pay me for something I wrote for them two months ago, I guess today is the day to post about how @vulture.com fucks over its film freelancers. Long (sorry) thread, with receipts:
i'm a little biased because i wrote the press notes and thus have seen it a few times and got to chat about gregg araki about it, but I WANT YOUR SEX is one of my faves of the year. sexy, stupid, incredibly funny, and olivia wilde and cooper hoffman are so fucking good.

i have been the overworked editor managing way too much in an underpaid position, and i used to be really bad at getting back to people. i course-corrected, making sure that i treat people who don't *officially* work with me as if they do. it's simply a decent way to collaborate with people!

100 years ago my grandfathers were under 10 years old, one grandmother was four and the other hadn’t been born yet
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?
