An interesting thing to read on the internet.

Got approached by a prospective client TODAY who wanted help creating a D&D adventure for an AI DM, after trying to have an LLM come up with it only resulted in unplayable shit. NGL, it was satisfying to tell him "no" and that his product is doomed to homogenous mediocrity

Great point about GenAI being seductive to folks new to TTRPGs. At least AI slop will be polished, right? But you can't develop your own skills that way—the growth is in the process. GenAI produces beginner's work effortlessly, but without all the painful effort, a beginner is all you'll ever be.

im also feeling inspired from this reading of omelas: what if our problem is that we can't imagine a piano performance world ~without~ memorization? what if we can't imagine that we can be free from performance anxiety irt to memorization bc we view the anxiety as the other side of the coin?

"Those who treat Omelas as a utilitarian allegory wish to view the child as a concession, a 'gotcha' moment illustrating the ethical quandary alleged to inhere in all joys and comforts. But such a reading is erroneous."
