Will be interesting to see how successful this is. Moving orchids because of the plan to restore inter-tidal mud at Teesmouth (makes a pleasant change from moving stuff because if a housing development or something @ukorchids.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Orchids growing near River Tees to be relocated to nature reserve
About 200 wild orchids will be moved by hand to specially selected sites at RSPB Saltholme.

Just managed to catch the Violet Helleborines (Epipactis purpurata) in Savernake before they go over completely. Mysterious and absolutely beautiful still. @ukorchids.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social

Visited Stotfold, Beds Green-flowered Helleborines only to find whole colony (and significant area of woodland floor) in the process of being trashed by dumping of waste soil from a nearby development. Work now stopped til Mon when I'll have to try to speak with council... @ukorchids.bsky.social

Orchid season may be drawing to a close, but there are still a few Broad-leaved Helleborines (Epipactis helleborine) to be found in scrubby corners locally. The variation in their flowers never ceases to surprise me! #wildflowers
Spectacular hybrid orchids on Tiree today (perhaps Frog x Common-spotted Orchid (?) - although the leaves are unspotted) - we see more hybrids here in good orchid summers (like this one) @ukorchids.bsky.social
A day of orchid indulgence, and four Epipactis species. Narrow-lipped Helleborine Epipactis leptochila to start, at a well-known Surrey beechwood. Mostly frazzled, but a few looking reasonably fresh. @bsbibotany.bsky.social @ukorchids.bsky.social
Broad-leaved Helleborine Epipactis helleborine in a grassy arable margin near Winchester, Hampshire today. @bsbibotany.bsky.social @ukorchids.bsky.social
