I’m actually not very good at identifying when visuals were made with AI. I suspect it’s part of my visual processing differences in general: when I see an ad I’m not processing details, only checking off high level attributes like “burger-shaped, highly saturated, glossy. Got it” before moving on

Fuck yeah Grand Rapids. Only lived there for a year but it was lovely and deserves better
chat, it is bad when your last campaign event is disavowed by the host because they didn't realize it was your campaign event and fundamentally oppose what you're all about
'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)
ACTION ITEM 🚨 Call both Senators plus the Governor and ask what work they’re doing to try to stop this prison camp from opening. We protected our neighbors for months, now they’re going to swarm back to take more. 1600 at a time.
Prison industry giant CoreCivic announced Monday that it has finalized a five-year federal contract to reopen a long-shuttered prison in Appleton that will now hold immigrant detainees.
I attended this & found it REALLY good for folks seeking effective strategies on supporting trans people & trans rights. There's another training with EducateUS tonight. Maybe it's for you?
July's Know Means Know session with Rebecca Kling, Principal and co-founder of Better World Collaborative, is going to be all about organizing for trans rights. Grab your spot here: buff.ly/YG4y8Zq
Quote of the day: Nicolae Ceaușescu, just months before being overthrown by the Romanian people, spending an inordinate amount of time micromanaging his grandiose vanity building project rather than running the country. archive.org/details/revo...
The "free" in market does not mean "free from regulation." It means "able to operate with free information and without market manipulation" and we've now proven, for the second time in US history, that you cannot have a free market WITHOUT reining in corporations.
15,000 years ago, in one of the the earliest settled communities in the world, a child collected fine clay from the slow-moving river by her home. She then committed an act familiar to all inveterate play-doh enthusiasts; rolling and and pinching the squishy clay into tiny round balls.
“Dating casually was easy. All Mel had to do was pretend to be a completely different person forever.” Damn, okay (from Triple Sec by TJ Alexander)
Feeling quietly appreciative of this cold sliced nectarine after a sweaty walk outside, and thinking of @stellagarp.bsky.social ‘s gratitude practice.
I know nothing about anything basketball but now I do know: Go Lynx!
Game day. I wonder what shirt Coach is going to wear today

Fun library fact: all epic poetry is filed under non fiction, in the 800s. The Odyssey is 883.
I like this notetaking example. it is a good case of how gender works. Notetaking has never been about producing a transcript. It is a bureaucratic skill in the 20th c. organixarion because it is SENSEMAKING. Those women socialized to take notes? They have been doing men’s metacognition for them
Notetaking in meetings is tiny case in point - used to be some predictable social assumptions who would do it; now anyone can offer to do ”notetaking” by turning on the AI listener. Further interesting scenario is human recollection / notes (taken by habit by a person) conflict with AI summary

Adding to my store of Fun Avocado Facts for Parties.
Some avocados are female in the morning and male in the afternoon, while others are on the opposite schedule. This helps them avoid self-pollination. How do they do it? A @ucdavis.bsky.social study explains. www.ucdavis.edu/food/news/st...
Let's start with 3). I have many mental illnesses of my own. Some of them are personality disorders. I deal with a lot of unfair judgement based on these, because there's a lot of misinformation about PDs... ...But it's also true that I have hurt people, and that some of this hurt was precipitated-
-by my mental illness. This doesn't make me a "bad person" (I don't really subscribe to the idea) but one way or another /these people were still hurt/. I needed help, but some of that help was also about coexistence, and if I ascribed only to a model where nothing about me was allowed to change-
-that ONLY acceptance of myself as I was, with no changes, was an acceptable version of "help", then I would still be a screaming, abusive piece of work. I was not *consciously* abusive; that doesn't mean I didn't need to get my shit together.
People often ask for advice in buying picture books for kids. What's new? What's popular? What would be good for a [blank] kid? My advise is *always* to get them something *you* love and that *you* would want to read to them a thousand times. Do you really *want* to read a kid self-indulgent slop??
Every so often I teach someone how to spin yarn on a spindle. And I always tell them that the first yarn you make will not be good yarn, and it's not meant to be, because right now you are not making wool into yarn, you're making yourself into a spinner.
The existence of disability accommodations isn't the problem. The problem is inflexible pedagogical practices designed for a specific neurotype and physical ability level, ignorant and short-sighted disability services offices, and the artificiality of every common proxy for measuring understanding.
Overslept and missed therapy again, and I’m Upset about it
PSA: Do not store anything nonperishable in a biodegradable bag in your kitchen cabinet! There is a chance the bag will biodegrade IN your kitchen cabinet. Can't believe it happened to me a second time... (FWIW, the first one created 1000000 flakes, the second one created a gooey mess.)
Wile E. Coyote, despaired, takes a bucket of paint and a brush and paints a beautiful two-bedroom house on a mountainside. He paints a beautiful coyote wife in the window, and two adorable coyote kids running around in the yard. He tries to enter this new coyote life, but it is inaccessible to him
