Community care, monster theology, narrative power, hope in the dark. Any opinions I express here are mine, and don't express the views of the organizations I work with and for.

I would rather have pronghorn antelope and bighorn sheep and elk and purple sage and four wing saltbrush than data centers and so far no one in tech has presented a compelling vision for how to have all of those things, they just seize more resources for the plagiarism engine.

Look all I know is that they're driving environmental harm and I don't really care how much help anyone thinks they are at coding, data centers are sucking up water and power at a rate that is harming actual human beings and the world around us and therefore LLMs can get fucked.

was discussing with a fellow traveler today -- but programmers, coders, developers are having an *entirely* different experience of LLM-based products and services than the rest of us, especially the plagiarized plebeians among us (writers, reporters).

On the day my country implements a bathroom ban it means so much to be in a room full of awesome trans people, trans elders, and cool folks working on something amazing ❤️‍🩹✊ The fight goes on till we’re all free

Doug Wilson was known as a fringe pastor who defended slavery and called for criminalizing same-sex relationships. Today, the Christian nationalist pastor is preaching inside the Pentagon, while the nationwide network of churches, schools, and institutions he built continues to expand its influence.

Moscow Rules: How Doug Wilson Preached His Way From the Palouse to the Pentagon

Doug Wilson spent decades on the Christian nationalist fringe. Now he's preaching inside the Pentagon. The pastor, who has defended slavery, called for repealing the 19th Amendment, criminalizing same...

Kevin is not exaggerating, VDARE was not white nationalist in the sense of "well if you get right down to it the modern GOP has always been white nationalist" VDARE was white nationalist in the sense of "yeah those Nazis sure are white nationalist"

Gonna go out on a limb here and say racist cranks who write for extremist white nationalist websites like VDARE should not, in fact, be confirmed to top roles in the Department of Justice.

I was talking to a college student today about the passing of the matryoshka doll from Grant Morrison and Rebis to Rachel Pollack and Kate Godwin to me and Galaxy and how much that means to me as someone who was a teenager who read those old DOOM PATROL comics and realized she wasn't alone.

One of the cool things about DC are the legacy characters. Characters who are connected not necessarily by family or circumstance, but by a shared history and view point. A line of creators who inspired the next, each a part of the larger story.

Panels from DOOM PATROL (Vol2) #23, by Grant Morrison, Richard Case, Scott Hanna, Daniel Vozzo, and John Workman.

The first panel is a closeup of nonbinary character Rebis.
Rebis: THE DOLLS ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, DAN. I'D LIKE TO TAKE ONE AWAY WITH ME.

The last panel is a close up of a matryoshka doll.
Rebis: THAT'S IF YOU DON'T MIND.

Aaaaaaaand AP just called the Kansas U.S. Senate Democratic primary for Rev. Adam Hamilton, so now there is, indeed, six. Not surprising (he was breaking fundraising records), but notable all the same. (And possibly one more pastor nominee by night’s end — we’ll see.)

"Pastors in Name Only" "Wicked Witch of Woke" “I've never seen anyone commit so much blasphemy against the word of God." As pastors become Democratic nominees — at least 5 so far, and likely one more tonight — their Republican opponents are attacking their faith. religionnews.com/2026/08/04/p...

Farmers must be protected from deadly heat. Working people musn’t be forced to collapse at work while protections & safety enforcements are rolled back. We need water, breaks, shade & real protections! Climate change is a labor issue & we’re fighting to make sure worker safety is never optional.

Yesterday's temperature topped 105° in Fresno. "Carlos" and team were working in the watermelons. "Our team is paid piece rate. The more boxes we fill the more we make. The person closest to the truck has the hardest job so we switch off. This is exhausting work." #WeFeedYou

Every cat owner has random trash in their house they can't throw away yet because a cat claimed ownership of it, and knows for certain that the more expensive the cat toy the more the cat will be interested in the box it came in.

Someone once told me that it's "classist" to advocate for people to have indoor cats because you need to buy them lots of expensive toys. Marcel has been playing with the discarded stem of a fresh green bean for 20 minutes. 🤷‍♀️

Imagine thinking you can talk about the history of Christianity as a field of academic inquiry in the United States from 1700s-1920 and never once mention slavery or Indigenous genocide as forces that influenced scholasticism. Not even briefly. Not even in an aside. Not even in a footnote??
