My Shanghai writing group is doing 100 poems in 100 days. Today someone wrote a poem without using two vowels. It was good and coherent. When I texted him I loved his oulipo exercise, he thanked me for teaching him a new word. I love this community.

The Blogger isn't an archive for my zine WORK. So there is some use, there is some loss. Luckily, I have physical zine for all of Work.

It would be great if poets thought that writing about other poets was part of the poet's job.

As much as I don't like Harold Bloom as a poetry critic, his recommended reading at the end of The Art of Reading Poetry is a pretty good list of poems.

If I started a mini-review blog for poetry 300-400 words, would you guys actually write a paragraph or two for poetry books you're reading? Two paragraphs, wouldn't need deep insights., just initial ideas, and ideas about craft.

Upfromsumdirt mentioned his old Blogger page. I looked up my old page I'm sure I deleted in the 2010s; it's still there. I can add to it, it's not frozen. The old stuff is an archive, but if they're going to keep giving me a free web addy and storage, I'm thinking I should use this for something.

Not sure what vibe I’m putting out, but I’m here for poetry, small press news, indie zines, and the occasional update on people’s vegetable gardens. I’m not here for news. Or anything else. Like I’m actually focused as to why I’m here. Everything else is noise.

Congrats to Ma Yongbo, the New Generation Beat Poet Laureate. Ma has translated a metric ton of English language poetry books into Chinese, all while working on his own craft and putting out stellar work. I'm not sure who puts this honor out, but I am sure Ma deserves the recognition.

In the intro, it says Philip Levine went out of his way to sabotage Coulette's Collected which came out AFTER HE WAS DEAD. That seems a real dick move and petty. Can anyone fill me in to the story behind that? There's got to be something more to this, right?

Reading Gramsci on the role of intellectuals in society this morning, and wondering if "intellectuals" still function as a strata in class systems, and if yes, what exactly their roles are now. Seems like this would be a good era for them, but I'm having difficulty identifying any atm.

I was just thinking of how great Selby's List was to have back in the early days of my poetry activity -- absolute invaluable resource. Also let me know that I wasn't the only one not writing stuff like Mary Oliver and Robert Pinsky.

With poetry still acting under the gift economy , it's worth asking where we fit in to all this.
