You can't get anyone in political media to say it plainly, but GOP strategy for several decades now has been built around the fact that its core goals/policies are *wildly unpopular*. Everything depends on a) polluting the information environment, b) cementing unfair structural advantages, & c) $$$.

"If House Republicans are going to pull off an upset in November, they say it would come down to the party’s massive cash advantage and its aggressive gerrymandering push." Eg, not on policies or the will of a democratic electorate. www.cnn.com/2026/10/03/p...

Dems’ 2028 platform should include stuff like letting soldiers have beards, letting TSA agents sit down, letting generals get their promotions, etc. The deep state isn’t real but civil and uniformed services are. We need them to know which side respects their human dignity before MAGA’s next coup.

Underrated story: the GOP has gone from the party of cutthroat operators who win at all costs to a bunch of fart sniffing morons who feel entitled to their seats. The key difference? College educated high earners aren't Republican anymore and so the pipeline for smart killers is dry.

the financial story of this midterm broadly is a story of the GOP trying to bury Dems in super PAC money, but the financial story of Texas specifically is a story of the super PACs frantically footing ~the whole bill for the priciest seat on the map because their nominee is allergic to raising money

I’ve settled on an interpretation of Mississippi half step where the narrator doesn’t actually make good on leaving, despite framing it as easy, and it all amounts to a wishful daydream

i met a hetty biscuits oldhead at a work function last night who picked up on some subtle biscuits references i put on our website a while ago. i'm more b4s these days but it did feel good to be Seen in that way
