Hoya Saxa that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth

Historian Tyler McGraw is a writer for the Emerging Civil War community and host of the podcast The Unfiltered Historian. McGraw recounts how General U.S. Grant's refusal to retreat at the 1864 Battle of the Wilderness marked the turning point that would wear the Confederacy down. #WeAreAmerica250

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

bought candy at the pool for a 13yo and she tried to give me cash. i was like nahh it's nbd, and she goes "girl i have seen your car." 13yo girls remain undefeated. you think you're talking to a child but you're actually talking to whatever gods used to send to punish mortals for their hubris

WH/Rs plan to increase spending on war & farmers w/o offsets. No serious efforts underway to shrink deficits of ~$2T a year and worsening as population ages and Congress keeps piling on red ink. Social Security Trust Fund runs dry in 2032, leading to big cuts under current law.

Most of the land in most farm counties is owned by 1-5 families. They run the place like their own personal kingdoms. There is SO much resentment and straight-up fury about this in rural areas. The fact that no political party's even really trying to speak to it is wild.

Russia's e-commerce is heading towards a costly Russian government bailout with the Putin regime stuck effectively managing these businesses at a massive loss if it wants to sustain a facade of peacetime "normality"

Burger King Pizza Firenze (1991-circa 1993): A line of pizzas from the iconic burger chain, boasted a "slow-baked taste". They were prepared in-house using "special fast-bake ovens" Available in a personal "SingleServ" option for lunch/dinner, or medium size, only available after 4 PM... a 🧵

A pizza pie with a slice being removed. The copy reads "New Pizza Firenze. Fast Pizza with Slow-Baked Taste. So Good, It's Guaranteed. Only at Burger King."Two personal-sized pizzas sit on a table with garlic bulbs and tomatoes.

So I think deep down they *have to* assume trans women are acting malignly, because they can’t imagine wanting to be a woman, while there seems to be a tendency see trans men as either failing to understand that it’s normal to be miserable about being a woman - or as traitors letting the side down.

Preserving Firefly Magic

Deep within an undisturbed forest in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, visitors may spot a continuous blue glow unlike anything they have ever seen before. That glow is the blue ghost firefly.

Mote like every nationally read publication that's written about this couched their headlines in language that implies it's "Taco Bell gives you the shits," instead of recognizing that Taco Bell saw the issue, reported it to the vendor, & was subsequently ignored until it became a national issue.

A screenshot of search results for Cyclospora news. While local/state reaching news organizations have it listed as a public health issue and warning people about it, national news organizations have headlines that explicitly point at Taco Bell as the source of the outbreak, rather than directing the reader towards the actual source, which is a company known as Taylor Farms.

A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!

hmmmmm I strongly disagree when people say Mr Darcy is just socially awkward, not an asshole half the point of his arc is that he uses one as the excuse for the other and comes to realize this is. yknow. bad.
