These people were damaging the industry, and then there were hordes of corrupt journos trying to skew the public opinion and boost sales. Gamergate addressed all of these things and you'll come around to appreciating it.
Honestly, if your view on video game journalism and video games period is based on easily disprovable shit from decades ago, I'm gonna conclude you don't like video games and have nothing to add and should go actually spend your energy running to into traffic
