Anyone familiar with tenant displacement in the last 5 years alone knows that working class young people and immigrants (and not the N-driver Lamborghini kinds) are far more likely to be the ones facing displacement risk.

ken sim spun a 180 so fast into a position opposite of his today that CERN came calling asking for advice from him, so this guy says they're acting in tandem? This is one example of the small but loud and unpleasant crowd making urbanists look very unreasonable.

This is such an important point: the toxic drug crisis is not an issue of the DTES or of Vancouver, the plurality of deaths occur in towns across BC. It's easy to ignore when you assume it's just some group of "others" dying on the street. But it's not. It's your neighbours. Dying in their homes.

Been covering DULF's constitutional challenge for @thetyee.ca this week. Crown prosecutors have tried to poke lots of small holes in what founders Eris Nyx and Jeremy Kalicum were doing. Nyx and Kalicum have largely defended themselves saying they were doing the best they knew how at the time.
when you hear city councillors like @lisadominato.bsky.social say that this budget reduces the financial pressure on seniors, people with disabilities, and families — remember all of those people can defer their property taxes indefinitely. this is a bad argument I hear too often.

very impressed by COPE Councillor Orr for reporting summaries of every speaker for this budget, and actually staying until the end unlike most ABC councillors my crude count is there were less than 10 in favour, roughly 260 opposed, with around 330 more speakers to go.
