Every vote to confirm Todd Blanche as attorney general is a vote to continue the coverup of the Epstein Files.

friends, please: don’t use transreads dot org they claim to support trans authors, but take our entire texts, post them for free, fundraise off it, and have the gall to claim it’s about preservation they are literally taking money from trans creators and make it harder for us to keep creating
I struggle to resist one-upping these posts. Gonna yield to temptation on this one: "Verify your age" My favorite TV show when I was a kid was The Lone Ranger, starring Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels.

And to be really real, I think the men screaming that it's okay to be masculine don't feel masculine at all and don't know how to be men. They only know how NOT to be women. And that's not the same thing. Abusing, denigrating, and ostracizing us will never make you a man.
Long ago, F&SF held a competition for science-fictional Burma Shave verses. Here's one of my entries: A spacewarp drive Is something rare By the time you leave, You've gotten there!

There's even a term for works where the current copyright ownership is unclear: Orphan Works. Be aware that just because a work is orphaned does not mean it is in the public domain. Typically, one would have to wait for the full run of copyright for that to happen. www.copyright.gov/orphan/

There was an earthquake last night about sixty-five miles away on Whidbey Island. A 3.8. We didn't notice. Didn't feel it at all.
Democratic politicians alarmed by the DSA should, I dunno, try to make themselves more attractive to voters as leaders who'll make people's lives better in some way, rather than just fret loudly that the voters don't obey them.
My books. Not book. Books. Many books.
I just searched my name on Bookshop.org, and it brought up lots and lots of my book -- but also a bunch I had nothing to do with, such as Sten and the Mutineers, Osama the Gun, Outlaw Ranch... Not sure what's up, but be careful.

What gets me is how often basic decency gets dismissed as some elite obsession. You don’t have to be rich, educated, religious, or secular to recognize cruelty when you see it. Most ordinary people do it every day.
I'm sorting old photos, and I thought some of you might be interested in this picture of my grandfather standing in the unfinished Panama Canal in July of 1912.
Watched the "Top Chef" finale. We're happy with the outcome -- and some of those dishes looked amazing.

maybe it's women using AI less because we're already good to go on the experience of rich men stealing our ideas, taking the credit, not paying us for them, and selling us the results at rapidly increasing prices
I wonder if on that cold Nebraska night when she ran calling Wildfire, the neighbors thought there was an ACTUAL wildfire, thus using valuable emergency resources for a non-existent emergency. She should have named the pony DONUT because then people wouldn't get scared every time he went outside.

If the actor with British accent is evil then you’re watching Sci fi. If the actor with a British accent is good then it’s Fantasy. If the actor with a British accent knocks something over then it’s a Rom com.
I personally want superheroes who are more inspired by firefighters than cops or soldiers and I want them to have the moral core of Mr Rogers. I also feel like society wants hope right now, they want morally righteous people overcoming nihilistic despair. Excuse me while I go yell at clouds.
Today's mail held a pleasant surprise: An author copy of the hardcover edition of Charming Sharra. This was the first I'd heard of a hardcover edition. The price is a bit daunting, though. amzn.to/4d1YoQO

I am pleased to report that after almost four years, I have completed the first draft of Tom Derringer & the Sinister Statue, fifth in the Tom Derringer series. The reason it took so long is mostly that the original outline didn't work; I threw it out and reworked the whole thing several times.
Note that there's been no threat to sue over this statement. I know I would be suing for tens of millions if I was innocent.
It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.
Yeah, I used FreeTaxUSA last year and this year. It's pretty cool.
Got taxes done. Switched from TurboTax to FreeTaxUSA www.freetaxusa.com this year, ended up saving over $200 from last years tax prep costs. Process felt thorough, and even a little "friendlier" than TurboTax. Thx due to @clairewillett.bsky.social for recommending folk make the switch.
