I’m not embarrassed and defensive about liking comics with superheroes because it means I’m a nerd, I’m embarrassed and defensive about it because in 2025 the representation of creative teams that aren’t entirely male still may take another century to accomplish anything near equality in the market

But yeah, “we sealed off NYC/LA and abandoned it to “those people”” was the launching point for multiple iconic franchises.

That’s how bad crime was 40 years ago, people still panic about it but the fact they have to make shoplifting, being homeless, and teens getting together the scariest things around demonstrates how much less violent crime there is at the moment,

40 years ago multiple movies, comics, and books were premised on the idea drug fueled crime would continue to increase exponentially until we lived in a totally crime based chaotic society with drug lords ruling large swathes of the US cities.
