This same failure of appeasement shone brightly in Minneapolis, where a mayor who confronted MPD directly (and allowed a protest occupation of the street in front of a precinct building to go on unimpeded for weeks) was replaced by an appeaser, at which point MPD declared open war on the city.
I Scare You Like Sound Dog@chadstanton.blacksky.app · 2d agoThere’s a similar dynamic with the NYPD where everyone praises the political savvy of maintaining a good relationship with police leadership, but I don’t see much changing as a result of such a relationship at the end of the day.

ugh the consent is being manufactured faster than we can beat it, have seen young (18-22 years old) Somali boys get upcharged or worse sentences in HennCo because of these alleged ~Somali gangs~

So if you actually care about restorative justice, the thing I beg you to start doing in these cases is CENTERING THE FUCKING VICTIMS. And not demanding that people immediately jump to how they can best not ruin the man's life.
It is centering HIM. That is not what restorative justice would do.
People angrily demanding why he must be punished and why we can't restore him is the fucking opposite of restorative justice.
