Very enthusiastic, very trans. Interested in the history of science, monsters, gender, and disability. Incoming PhD student in History at Brown University.

We're looking at adopting a couple cats from an out of state rescuer, and got asked if we'd like to do a Zoom call with them. Now, realistically, I am sure this is more of a way for the rescuer to vet us than it is for us to meet the cats. But it is also really, really funny.

August 4 is International Owl Awareness so I am sharing my parliament! 🧪🐡 The delightful term for a group of owls is a parliament. I love the whimsical terms of venery for groups of animals and this is part of my ongoing series of linocut terms of venery prints. For my parliament of owls I made two

For my linocut parliament of owls I made two columns of local owls - like government an which the loyal opposition in this parliament in a tree printed in black against a dark grey evening sky! It reads “A parliament of owls” in gothic lettering and the word Owl is made with an eye and feathers. Right to left and top to bottom the owls are: Northern saw-whet, Eastern screech, Barred, long-eared, Barn and Great Horned owl. They are printed in shades of brown on white chine collé paper on the grey background.

Moving expenses have, perhaps predictably, hit us harder than we were expecting. I won't get my first stipend payment until the end of Semptember, and my partner's disability checks aren't quite enough for us to get by until then. If you can help, we would appreciate it so much.

Hey! As many of you know I'm going to be starting a PhD in History at Brown this fall. I'm incredibly excited, but the hard part is going to be getting there. My partner and I are fundraising to make the move from MN to RI possible, and would be incredibly grateful for your help.

just found out that a 17th century book of jewish folktales features an adaptation of the french werewolf epic bisclavret, but in this version the werewolf is a rabbi. AND the internet archive has it

We had a fiasco with the first movers we hired and had to go with another company -- who were great, but also significantly more expensive. All this has definitely put a strain on our moving budget. If you're able to help at all, or even just spread the word, it would be hugely appreciated!

Was talking about a post I saw related to printers working very infrequently and joked that there should be a bracha for when printers actually work and without missing a beat our housemate replied "Shehecheyanu"

Doing some more packing to prepare for the move, and I do keep thinking about the sort of depressing but nonetheless historically significant strata of protest signs stacked together in our home that screams "Has lived in Minneapolis/Saint Paul since late 2018"

Some favorite con swag we either purchased or were given as gifts this year. I love how creative everyone at conventions is, and these are all going to be proudly displayed somewhere in our home.

My partner deserves the bulk of the credit for this, I just enabled her insanity, but we are so incredibly grateful to the CONvergence Masquerade for awarding our Grace and Rocky entry the Best Workmanship award. Like seriously, we are blown away.

Reminder: If you're getting into the growing trend of returning to foraging, PLEASE make sure you read up on sustainable & ethical foraging habits, especially if you forage in a public shared space. Do it wrong & you not only hoard resources for yourself, but can also permanently destroy patches.

Incredibly grateful to everyone who has contributed so far. We're really touched by everyone's generosity. I wanted to boost this again, and also mention that we're doing a big moving yard sale to raise some more money this weekend if you're local to the Twin Cities! Just message me for the info

🧵 … Hey all … I’m in search of story sources who’d want to interview for an upcoming feature about trans folks who’ve moved from red states to blue ones, especially since the last presidential election. Signal boosts appreciated.
