Winkler Laboratory

@winklerlab.bsky.social

We are the Winkler Laboratory at the UKHD and DKFZ Heidelberg Our focus: #cancerneuroscience of #braintumors ( #glioblastoma #brainmetastases), and beyond. We use #intravitalimaging , #calciumimaging, #preclinicalmodels and more, to tackle these diseases

Now lectures on cancer neuroscience by Brain prize winners Winkler and Monje. Happy to be a small part of the field. I feel some hope for the future of currently lethal glioma in adults and children.

1/n Excited to share our new paper in Nature Cancer 🦀 Meet Hetairos (Greek- “companion”): an AI model that predicts >100 methylation-defined CNS tumour subtypes directly from a routine H&E slide 🧠 State of the art diagnostics- from the slide that’s already on every pathologists’ desk 🧵

Super excited to see our new preprint on calcium signalling in brain metastases now out on bioRxiv! Very thankful to be part of @winklerlab.bsky.social and working so closely with @nilshebach.bsky.social under the guidance of @matthiakarreman.bsky.social and Frank Winkler and all our collaborators.

What if brain metastatic cells do not act alone, but form #networks to help them grow? In our new #preprint, we show that #brainmetastases form malignant, gap-junction mediated #networks that drive cell cycle progression & neural features through Ca²⁺ signaling. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6... 🧵👇

Our new preprint on calcium signaling in brain metastases is now on bioRxiv! Thrilled to share the core work of my doctoral thesis in the @winklerlab.bsky.social, together with @nielsolshausen.bsky.social, @matthiakarreman.bsky.social and many more!

Check out this great review from @winklerlab.bsky.social and colleagues: cancer neuroscience is going to rewrite everything we thought we knew about oncology - and we're just getting started!🧠🔍
