Those of us who've been out a few years and can do this should be a bit less casual about this tbh. The Real Life Experience inflicted on us by gender clinics to get access to hormones was designed to kill people or force them back in the closet because these fuckers know hormones work.

I cannot emphasize how much of a non-issue this is. I use the women's. Doctors ask when my last period was. Airport security looks back up at me when I hand them my passport. I have navigated life smoothly as a woman for years, and I am only endangered by the ideological fixations on denying that.

My friend has a field recorder she uses in her workshop (she is working up to making YouTube stuff). I have Reaper and *a lot* of vsts. She sends me clips of silly workshop noises and I put a shit load of effects on them so they sound like spaceships and send them back. This is symbiosis.

This is the thing though. Amnesty folded on this one because they see the trannies as acceptable losses for protecting their other work. This is not "human rights org scared of lawsuit" this is "human rights org does not give a fuck about trannies".

It's hard to articulate the change in the trans community over the last few years. Before it was like "Man, this is hard, there's so much ignorance out there, but we're making it work, we're making it better, it won't be like this forever. Now it's like "Oh, they want us dead."

One thing that sticks out to me in all this is how comfortable people are throwing around "nutcase" and "mentally ill" as supposedly discrediting. Like the implication seems to be that if somebody is mentally ill in a way that other people find unpalatable they should have no recourse or voice.

Absolutely! There is a difference between an evaluative film review ("⭐⭐⭐⭐ Loved it! Go see!") and a critical, academic [film | book | exhibition | etc.] review. Wilson is an academic writing a form of critical academic review in a magazine that publishes critical reviews, not evaluative ones.
