Former reporter, politico, university instructor, brewery drone and seminarian. Always digging for cheap records.

Rightwing astroturf organization whose former employee was the previous PREMIER OF ALBERTA. Their righteous indignation is a PR sham to devalue public service. When CTF jokers run for office, they become the most venal, transactional, overtly anti-public-interest politicians imaginable.

Alberta MLAs are Canada's third highest paid provincial politicians and seventh highest if you include the United States... and that doesn't account for the benefit of a lower income tax rate and no GST. www.taxpayer.com/media/Subnat...

Anything, and I mean anything, Carney says or does will be rationalized. He can use right-wing rhetoric and institute policy indistinguishable from Poilievre's and someone will show up to defend it. Every single time. I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime.

You don’t have to be anti-immigrant to recognize basic economics. Adding people faster than we can build homes, expand infrastructure, and provide services drives up costs and strains supply. Sustainable immigration requires sustainable growth.

Torrential rain and wildfire smoke at the same time! Flooded basements and impassable roads. I’m really glad UN climate envoy Mark Carney is committing tax dollars to locking us into decades of expanded oil production as these conditions worsen.

Tons of peoples' Claude chats are exposed on Google. Cryptocurrency keys, API keys, login credentials, legal discussions, more. This happened with ChatGPT last year. And Claude too. There's clearly an ongoing issue with search engines indexing peoples' AI chats www.404media.co/tons-of-peop...

Tons of Peoples’ Claude Chats and Creations are Exposed on Google

Claude users are creating public share links, but probably don't realize that means their chats are now ending up in Google searches where anyone can dig through them.

Reminder that Carney has cut funding for Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Indigenous and Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services. And he has rolled back climate protections, abandoned emissions targets, and is building more pipelines.

Carney:

"The wildfire situation has escalated significantly over the last three weeks across the country, and particularly in Northwestern Ontario.

Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their communities, not knowing if their homes will survive.

On behalf of Canadians, I want to thank the brave firefighters, first responders, Indigenous and local leaders who are working tirelessly to keep people safe.

Our government is in close contact with provincial, municipal, and Indigenous partners and stands ready to provide any additional support as needed."

Our Canadian PM was a UN climate envoy and wrote a book on the subject prior to taking office, then called climate action divisive and unrealistic. Centrists have no real convictions other than power and appeasement, so even when they talk about climate, nobody’s going to believe them.

Democrats have stopped talking about climate. Strategists say that's smart—but they're wrong. Making climate a top priority wins votes, and barely 1 in 10 voters will vote against climate action. Read all about it in my newsletter, "Notes from the Electric Era." electricnotes.news/p/yes-democr...

today is a celebration of the US narrowly escaping British tyranny. unfortunately there’s no counterfactual of what would’ve happened if the British maintained territory in north america but we can only assume it would’ve been terrible

It’s not just emissions in a rapidly heating world. It’s not just hypocrisy from the ‘climate finance guy.’ It’s not just sinking tens of billions of public $. It’s not just a missed opportunity for electrification. It’s richly rewarding a separatist who will sell out Canada in a heartbeat.

Canada has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become a global energy superpower.    We’re seizing it. In partnership with Alberta, Indigenous Peoples, and industry, we’re building a stronger Canada for all.

Here's my full interview with CNBC, covering my bear case against generative AI, OpenAI's questionable finances, AI's lack of ROI, and how all of this is a symptom of the tech industry running out of hypergrowth ideas. It's great to see the mainstream media discussing this. youtu.be/TtmPccUTDP8?...

NEW BLOG FOR YOU Google's energy consumption numbers in their new climate report are mind-blowing. 2 years ago they flipped from linear to exponential growth, and their climate impact is blowing out, too. A WILD testament to the obscene bloat and waste of GenAI: ketanjoshi.co/2026/07/01/g...

A decade ago, our government made sure Springbank reservoir would get built. I’m relieved we made that decision, and it was far enough along it couldn’t be politically messed-with, even though Jason Kenney and his Banff MLA certainly tried. It is protecting City of Calgary today, as a result.

UPDATE: With this morning's activation of the Springbank Reservoir, we are now in a Flood Watch on the Elbow River. We are not anticipating overbank flooding in the City of Calgary at this time. A new update will be provided soon. Visit Calgary.ca/flood for latest.
