So the message of this research out of China, where you were seeing a lot of kids using A.I. to help them, was that when they were using the A.I., they were getting things done faster. But it turned out that the skills they were learning were not holding, that their actual personal performance, at least in the way we traditionally measure it, was degrading. What do you think when you hear that? The last part — I completely agree. Try to get a kid to do long division right now. The multiplication table is starting to be forgotten. Doing square roots, my goodness. Basic math is being forgotten. Does it matter? That’s my question for you. Yeah. I don’t think it does. I don’t think it does. But there must be some set of skills that matter. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. But maybe not those. We’re going to discover new ones. Just maybe not those. There are a lot of skills that don’t matter. My first confession, I actually don’t know my address.

Well. Nevermind the road trip to Kamloops today for the CAJ event. Departure Bay Ferry cancelled due to mechanical issues, and the earlier Duke Point Ferry had a one sailing wait that would have resulted in a missed event. Mentally, maybe I’ll just take this day off. 🫩

This is absolutely deranged: Months before murdering 6 people and injuring 27 more, ChatGPT told the teen school shooter in Tumbler Ridge, BC that using a Remington 870 pump-action shotgun is “brutal” in a “hallway, indoors or a crowded classroom” because “close quarters” is that gun’s “playground”

Election signs are now up Nanaimo! John Little has been working on sign crews since 1984 in Nanaimo, the region, and even in other provinces. “As you can see, I just asked people to come out, and today we had 14 people come out,” he said. “It's amazing. If you ask people to help, they will help.”

Researchers at the Tech Transparency Project (TPP) say they have discovered hundreds of new disturbing ads containing child sexual abuse material, after a previous similar incident. This time, they were able to identify images of real children.

The idea that some BC Conservatives have that if only they could purge the "liberals/Liberals" out of their party—which is a coalition at its heart, a "big tent" as they say is bizarre. It's a losing strategy in this province.
