Welcome @news.abc.net.au who just ditched their account over on the bad place, and have committed to Bsky.
This is one of the funniest versions of malicious compliance I've ever seen. The playing with the mic, the smiles to silence, the dead air, the comms check at the end. <chefs kiss>
Awkward scenes aboard Artemis II as Trump stops ranting and none of the astronauts have anything left to say to him, leading to extended dead air
“I will NOT sacrifice the Oxford comma. We've made too many compromises already; too many retreats. They assimilate the em dash and we fall back. They capture ‘not just X but y’ and we fall back. Not again. The line must be drawn here! This far, no further!”
This is an excellent reminder that no matter what happens with AI or data centers, we are going to need a *lot* more electricity in the future.
Data centers! The sky is falling! What's that, California? Electric vehicle charging will be bigger than data centers? 🔌💡 @yes-energy.bsky.social www.rtoinsider.com/123981-cec-a...
4yo: 'Can I go to school in my fleecy pyjamas today?' Me: 'No, not today.' 4yo: 'Do I have to wear my human form?' Me: 'Your uniform. That's right.'
Some important new government policy that Native Americans might be interested in:
Trump talks about Denmark and Greenland just now: "The fact that they landed a boat there 500 years ago doesn't mean that they own the land."
Trump’s forces have kidnapped Venezuelans in my neighborhood, so it’s not a big surprise they’d kidnap Venezuelans in Venezuela.
I'm seriously starting to question the credibility of the FIFA Peace Prize.
earlier this year I switched pdf-reader from sorbet types to RBS using inline comments. I'm pretty happy with the result https://yob.id.au/2025/12/30/inline-rbs-comments.html

🐘 Oh, that's nice: Postgres 19 is going to ship read-your-writes for standbys when using asynchronous replication, via a new command WAIT FOR LSN (similar to WAIT_FOR_EXECUTED_GTID_SET in MySQL). Very cool! www.postgresql.org/docs/devel/w...
"I DON'T NEED YOU TO FUCKING REWRITE WHAT I'VE JUST WRITTEN!"
Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

The Ig Nobel is incredible , one year an Indian guy won it for calculating the average surface area of an elephant and during his acceptance they had an elephant hold up a sign with the surface area of the scientist on it, they do showbiz better than the Oscars
Video: a Japanese scientist was attacked by flies while giving the acceptance speech for his Ig Nobel Prize-winning research paper that proved painting Zebra-like stripes on cows led to a decrease in biting fly attacks.
OMG, partner was just googling snorkelling from Daintree and the Google's AI summary suggested snorkelling in the DAINTREE RIVER!!! For the unacquainted, the Daintree is famous for salt water crocodile watching tours where you avoid the water at all costs. Please never swim in a river in Nth QLD.
Thanks Google. I googled "four corners abc paladin" to find out whether they'd ever covered it. The AI literally made up an episode.
I think the European Union is a pretty good idea but every time I’m asked to accept cookies or adjust my cookie settings when I visit a new website I start to wonder whether Nigel Farage was right all along
Congratulations to spacex on testing the fire, it definitely does a lot of fire
"That's not good."

weirdly tactical blog post, but it was odd that I couldn't find this anywhere when I needed it: Querying AWS CUR v2.0 data using Athena yob.id.au/2025/05/17/a...
