Kyoto Xanadu has all the elements of a great RPG, but in the end it feels like a mere dress rehearsal rather than its own grand debut. There's some... interesting stuff happening in the Vita Piracy community. What I will say is that you should not be fooled into thinking it's about AI vibe-coding. It is, instead, about a software developer who said racist things and then packed up his toys when he received the mildest of push back.

just realized that the Falcom Music Channel getting shut down means my entire feature on the music of Ys I & II that I used to show technological and sound changes over decades in the industry has no music in it anymore

It’s sad to see Falcom Music Channel of being gone… Thank you Josep for putting all of the effort of showing care to their music work and preserving for over a decade especially to other OST/BGM that don’t make it to any final product especially for the newer-unannounced titles, etc.

Falcom has taken down the fan-run 'Falcom Music Channel' (a YouTube page they'd even link to themselves!).🎹 Despite once lax rules for use, Josep (who ran the page) would also try crediting individual composers who are otherwise more simply credited as 'Falcom Sound Team JDK'.

Really sad to hear about what’s going on with the Falcom Music Channel run by a devoted fan. To my understanding, the channel was not monetized and therefore was fair play according to their own rules. I can only hope this was all a misunderstanding and we see a reversal soon.

Ah, Ys VIII. I think it may still be my favorite Falcom game. Just a masterclass action RPG. A game so good there is an entire plot point in the anime GAMERS! where two characters become friends purely because they both love Ys VIII.

Finally playing A Link Between Worlds on my 3DS and I definitely understand the hype. The 3D effect really makes it look like a little diorama. I usually hate getting lost in Zelda games, but this hits the perfect balance. Just naturally exploring transitions seamlessly into solving puzzles.

I keep seeing arguments for games being expensive due to hyper realistic expectations for art, or simply lots of art. What I don’t see is the actual most costly reason: Indecision Iteration is good, but the yearly rebuilding of entire characters, storylines, and levels, is the most expensive thing

To this point, I will also reiterate that PS3 and PS Vita digital download preservation remains incomplete, particularly for Japanese games and DLC, where I imagine the bulk of that work has taken place abroad. This essentially gives a one-year deadline to plug some sizeable, yet quite tricky holes.

Forcing digital-only just ensures I'll never buy any game day-one again outside of very specific franchises I want to support. There will never be a rush for me to buy anything because the risk of something going out of print will be gone. I'll keep that money, thanks.
