As you can Clearly See from my profilepic, I am a Friendly Bush Viper; Mostly of tumblr, Formerly of Twitter. I Enjoy the Fandoms. Hello ^v^
The thing many people don't understand about discrimination is that it means you can never count on anything. When straight white cis people order a cake, they get a cake. When I order a cake, I might get a cake or I might waste hours and get nothing.
Currently fighting with Costco because they've told me that it's their policy not to write "queer" on cakes because it's profanity 🤬
“For the past three years, I believed that his punishment was so light because my rape wasn’t significant or bad enough.” Then the school doled out the same punishment in the Jane Doe case.
"My assailant was found responsible for my sexual assault ... His punishment? He received a 'written reprimand,' was ordered to write a 'reflection paper,' and was placed on behavioral probation until he graduated two months later." Must-read by a Cornell grad: www.thecut.com/article/i-wa...
Josh Abbottoy is cofounder & chairman of American Reformer, which published an article glorifying the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in 2024. The VOC had the power to establish colonies & wage war. Abbottoy is now spearheading a far right Christian community alongside a *drone factory* in TN. 1/
Developer Josh Abbottoy, who aims to build a “far-right ‘aligned’ [Christian] community” in a tiny TN town has now proposed building a drone factory there. (Abbottoy is tied to New Founding—backed by Thiel ally Marc Andreessen—& to American Reformer where Thiel ally Chris Buskirk is a director.) 1/
I know what happens in 2671 but I’m not telling you because I’m a historian so I only talk about the past sorry
Acidic wood pulp paper is really 1850s at scale I think
People getting mad about this probably don’t remember AEDPA, the Anti-Terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act, which passed the senate by 91-8, and the House 293-133, and was signed into law by Bill Clinton.
One more thing about the death penalty before going offline. As disgusted as we should be by Trump's bloodlust, we should NOT lose sight of the CENTRAL role of Democrats in upholding, expanding, and enabling this system that seems to horrify so many people right now. It really cannot be said enough.

Nothing was livestreamed in the Middle Ages. I'd guess that more killings were initiated by public authorities in the 20th century than in any century of the Middle Ages. We do the things we do. Let's stop pretending they belong to other places or times. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
‘Medieval’ and ‘disturbing’: US plan to livestream execution elicits global condemnation
Pentagon said execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, who killed 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009, would be broadcast live

There is every reason to predict that to the extent he thinks he can get away with it, he will try to lie his way out of an adverse November result.
New on The New York Times : “Trump Has Cast Doubt on Elections on 440 Days in His Second Term”
Beyond the obvious evil here, the fact that they have literally interpreted the mission of the Civil Rights Division to be about the civil rights of Donald Trump is so insane
DOJ gunning for Cassidy Hutchinson. There is no bottom.
🚨Sen. Gustavo Rivera caught two plain-clothed ICE agents who claimed to be investigating a shooting carried out by their colleagues in the Bronx. However, they appeared to conduct the investigation in highly illicit manners.
You may have heard that nonfiction's having a rough time. I investigated for @thewalrus.ca. And it's very true, but not for the reasons you might think. thewalrus.ca/nonfiction-i...
Ok this is the favorite commission for day 2. The prompt was "ghost rider as a mail carrier"
And yes, this year's model is how Abdul turned the large sum of money spent against him into a key argument against his opponents. Exactly like WisDems did last year.
What if Democrats let Elon Musk and the massive forces of capital buy this election?
It’s not victim-blaming to say that we must blame the villains if we want to make voters heroes.

@lissaharris.bsky.social, your post on permitting reform got a reference on Open Circuit (presumably via @billmckibben.bsky.social 's substack). (cc: @costasamaras.com )
thesis: permitting deal good antithesis: permitting deal bad secret third thing: you guys, these bastards don’t care about the law and they’re gonna find a way to fuck up anything good in this deal. we need to get rid of them and rebuild American democracy

I been sayin supporting local news is a climate action
A document prepared by Energy United and Resource Works calls Canada’s policies to fight the climate crisis, protect nature and defend Indigenous Rights are a “problem,” and environmental organizations are “opponents,” @meyer.bsky.social reports They also took aim at the Local Journalism Initiative
In honor of Energy Dominance month, we’re now buying oil from Russia and funding both sides of one war overseas, because our over-dependence on oil is making us lose another war overseas.
The United States is now importing fuel from Russia, per President Trump.
To paraphrase @annaleen.bsky.social and @charliejaneanders.com, the question is not whether or not AI is sentient, it's whether or not, in the eyes of the super wealthy, the rest of us are.
I certainly hope that none of the companies working on AI ever succeed in creating actual machine consciousness, because none of those companies has any idea how to treat the humans who work for them in an ethical, moral, compassionate manner. Those companies will do far worse to conscious machines.
Not surprisignly this is a quote from an episode of @ouropinions.bsky.social We did not fuck around
