“If this was true, I would be in jail,” is not meant to convince you that this man did not commit gender violence. It is meant to remind you that we have collectively decided that gender violence will be de facto invisible to the law.

Those who believe things like this are working hard at not understanding the finite options available to someone whose abuser has not been prosecuted, found guilty, etc. by the law. And how rarely those things happen to abusers, esp. high-status white male abusers.

Kinda crazy that liberals are the only political group left that thinks rape is unequivocally evil. Both extremes on the right and left think that rape is a tool you can use against political opponents. And they both get equally as angry at liberals for not supporting that worldview.
