this is going to end up banal but what a world it would have been if the people who YOLO'd consumer LLMs with the pitch "this can automate the boring shit you don't want to do" had a definition of "boring shit" that was "set up AWS creds" instead of "art, music, socializing, raising children"

As far as I know Abdul would be the only senator period, at all, who is officially against aid to Egypt.
I mean, I suppose traditionally, the answer is "have a once-in-a-century charismatic and capable president backed by double-digit popular vote margins" but that's a hard strategy to intentionally produce.
I fundamentally do not know how to square the politics whereby Democrats will essentially have to tell the American people that because they (the voters) made an extremely stupid decision, they need to lower their expectations substantially for the foreseeable future, but here we are.

I think voters don't realize being a candidate is unpaid, and even if you win, the pay isn't great for the stress level and the "reward" is being a regular speaker at Elks Lodge & the Farm Bureau.

I'm sorry, I know academics who specialize in Homer probably watched it with a laundry list of grievances, but if I scroll through youtube Shorts right now I can find people making the kind of memes and skits about a 2800 year old epic that Breaking Bad produced at its peak popularity.
One thing that surprised me is that @bradlander.bsky.social brought up proportional representation without any prompting from me. I take that as a very good sign of where things stand on that.
