Scientist, mom, crafty lady

I don’t care where you started out on the political spectrum If your kid comes out as trans & you don’t become a rainbow-clad, parade-cheering ally & rock-solid supportive girl/boy/enby dad/mom? You were never a parent at all You were a doll collector furious they didn’t stay in their packaging.

Long story short: I’m an asylum seeker in France now. I don’t know how long this process will take, but for I still can’t officially work here. So I’m looking for any opportunity to earn money to be able to pay for rent and food. Please, read and share this post ❤️‍🩹 ko-fi.com/illustory

We are a group of queer artists, and we are in big trouble.
In April 2025, we immigrated to France, seeking a safe place to live and make art.
Our humanitarian visas expired a year ago.
Since then, we have been trying to get legal status in France.
To be able to work, open a bank account, get health insurance and just have some basic human rights.
We spent a whole year fighting for our lives against Strasbourg Prefecture and we lost. All this time we couldn't properly work, so we were burning our savings.
In August, all three of us were denied a residence permit.
According to the Prefecture, the only option for us To stay legally in France is to become asylum seekers.
About a week ago, we sent out our applications for the asylum.
Now we are looking at another indefinite stretch of time, before we are summoned to Paris for interviews.
It might be two months, three months, half of a year or even more... no one knows for sure.We had planned for a year without documents max, and now it's been a year and a half already.
No matter how hard we tried to stretch our savings, they have run out.
Currently, we don't have enough money to pay for rent and food in November.
It's hard for me to admit that, but we are in huge trouble, with all our hopes and plans ruined by the French bureaucracy.
We really need your help and every little bit matters, so I came up with some options for how you can support us.HOW YOU CAN HELP

An unelected political appointee is disobeying the will of Congress & the rule of law by withholding funds for programs approved with bipartisan support. Blatantly unconstitutional. Flagrantly anti-science. The latest example of authoritarianism from the Trump admin.

What. A. Day. NIH grant-making was paused for several hours today. Not sure who gave the order. But in light of the Friday night Bhattacharya-Vought feud & threatened EO to implement #ScienceDeathPanels, my money is on Russell Vought. I learned of the pause from a colleague around 11:30. 🧵

New: Officials battled over NIH in the Oval Office today, per people familiar. RUSS VOUGHT criticized NIH "woke" spending and floated executive order to review its grants. JAY BHATTACHARYA defended NIH's alignment with Trump. TRUMP appeared to side with Vought. with @rbeggin.bsky.social
