“If you don’t like public executions just don’t watch it” says the crowd trying to ban drag shows and books

Former Librarian, but still have stories to tell.
Although you don't see these wins in the headlines, they are happening.
Trump fired Western Washington's U.S. attorney less than an hour after he was sworn in. Today a judge put him back. The president doesn't get to ignore the law to install his loyalists. This is a win for our democracy.
I for one think it’s bad that the president can just say crazy stuff all day every day and 99% of it doesn’t make the news because we’ve normalized having an insane president
BREAKING: trump to sign executive order renaming the Atlanta Hawks to the Iowa Hawkeyes!
one MAGA preacher says that God is going to lower the price of gas. another is building an AI Jesus. and the House GOP now says that border walls are a commie plot. all that and more in "this week in stupid," my every-Saturday round-up of the dumbest shit that happened. links here: bit.ly/4rkEO9b
Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying
Mark Carney: "In recent days. the US proposed new terms that were uneconomic, unfair, and undermine the net benefits for Canada, and called into question the reliability of any deal. In short, they asked too much and they offered too little ... You're at war when you get attacked. We got attacked."
Today it's official: The United States of America is a dictatorship. Fascism is here. Our freedoms are gone. The POTUS is ordering foreign dictators to build slave labor camps for US citizens. No one is safe anymore. It can happen to any of us for any reason or no reason at all. RIP USA
The deadly Cyclospora outbreak, it turns out, is just another Trump corruption story. A big donor gets a favor. And causes a massive public health crisis. Let me explain.
Quite a paragraph in the Washington Post report about Trump-touted youth Patriot Games in Ohio
I love how virtually everything we hear about AI is something akin to "AI MODEL CREATES LIVING CHUPACABRA THAT DEVOURS RESEARCH TEAM IN TEST RUN BEFORE GAINING ACCESS TO U.S. NUCLEAR CODES" and everybody's like, "Well, it's the future, guess we better just roll with it and see if it helps."
"Only the second Trump administration could find a way to get so bogged down in such a shallow pool." Priceless lines from Chris Geidner.
NEW: Jeanine Pirro's motion to dismiss the Reflecting Pool case is going to have ripple effects. The decision to end the case against former Olympian David Hearn is already making a big splash — and this is likely just the beginning, not the end, of the matter. Tonight, at Law Dork:

🚨 BREAKING: The DOJ is moving to dismiss the indictment against David Hearn in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool case and is admitting the damage was the result of a flawed, botched installation job, not vandalism.
There will be a Victims Fund in 2029. It will be for all the people who were charged under false pretenses, whose cases were dropped after DOJ admitted the evidence was all lies, and/or who were acquitted at trial. There will be justice. It’s coming.
FLASH: Justice Dept seeks to dismiss Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool criminal case against former Olympian David Hearn Trump Admin acknowledges: "Damage to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in June 2026 was the result of flawed installation by the contractor"
"We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men — not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular.” - Edward R Murrow
My kids have measles, I lost my job, and a parasite that the CDC no longer monitors has given me explosive diarrhea. But at least now there’s no plaques honoring Black scientists at the Smithsonian.
Thank you for posting the rebuttal. Check out a few of Director Hartig's "favorite things," from the National Museum, and see if you are not moved by the histories they carry (minutes @8-19). www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxKV...

Yes! Is there a # we can use to all voice support & teachers can share what they & students have learned from the Smithsonian? Also, House Democrats issued 16-page rebuttal with many clear & strong points. (Although too rosy at end about past presidents.) democrats-cha.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
Congrats to Spain on winning the World Cup! Trump cut off trade to Spain a few weeks ago. He also gave $20 billion to his fascist buddy Javier Millei who runs Argentina. Everything he touches turns to crap.

Data centers are harming every environment they are placed in.

Unless McConnell comes out and publicly rebukes this on camera, I'm going to assume it's true.
