It's absolutely infuriating that blue-state governors do not see this as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to launch their schools into the stratosphere. And I don't mean that in a greedy way. I mean that they could actively work to save US higher ed AND make their schools even better.

Biden's presidency and the aftermath we're living through should be enough to destroy the "let's the turn page, let's look forward, let's move on" mantra that has animated centrist Democrats for decades now. Accountability matters. There has to be a reckoning.
Jonathan Cohn @jonathancohn.bsky.social · 3mo agoHard to see so many basic rights being dismantled and not view the Biden interregnum as a total failure. His presidency was premised on restoring institutions and stability, and so many of the wins achieved have already been undone by Trump (as well as 50+ years of progress).
I understand that there are various possibly creative solutions to the court but I really think the imperative right now is getting Ds on the record in favor of court expansion. 1
