The rest of the household is playing a very complicated castle building game and I am just watching and eating a potato and the rush from not understanding the rules and not needing to understand the rules is honestly amazing.

this is where I currently stand. this well has been poisoned. I agree that I would like an unpoisoned well, but you can not convince me that I need to drink from the poisoned well just because I agree that water is important.

This story is so fucking good and I think about it a lot. Highly recommend

So many people get mad when folks say “AI” to talk about “LLMs” but I bet almost all of them say “America” when they mean “the United States.”

It’s been over a month but I still think about how Disclosure Day opens w/ Emily Blunt’s character doing a public, celebratory dance about hail. Like she’s telling pple “dangerous, stressful weather coming” & her framing is “what a fun time for me” & tbh that kinda set the tone of the film for me.

I can bail at any time but my decision point is 10% into the page count. Works well for me bc a set number feels wrong across different sized books and I’m indecisive enough that I need a clear decision point. Everyone I know w/ a healthy reading life DNFs

This may sound foolish, but if it resonates with even one person it's worth it. I used to love reading. Then life and a lack of time got in the way. Recently it dawned on me that I don't have to finish books. A quick yes/no after 25-30 pages. Continue only the ones I'm loving. I'm reading again.

There are few things I hate more than being told to provide “customer service” as an educator. My students and their families are not customers. That is not the relationship here. Public education is not a fucking business.

I just saw a meme that said “get in losers, we’re reclaiming the emdash”. People. PEOPLE. Where are your STANDARDS? It CLEARLY should be “get in, losers — we’re reclaiming the em dash.”

The millennial housing experience is looking at a property and being like idk that’s a lot but maybe we could swing it. Would be nice to not have so many roommates. And then the copy on the listing is like “great opportunity to downsize.”

Those photos are from dawn, as my mom woke me up early to make sure I could see the turkey family. But no need to wake up early-- they are back this afternoon. My mom teared up both times, she was that excited to see them (even though they live here and she gets to see them all the time).

Anyway I am now at the library and have watched two pple apply for library cards in like ten minutes. One is a teen. One is an older woman who used to have a card and wants one again. It is very wholesome. They seem excited. (For the record they do no seem to know each other)

After two years in one of the few parts of the US w/ actual public transit, I have descended back into car dependency and it is hell. I spend at least two hours a day on car related chores. Some of that is switching states but not all of it. Insane amount of overhead to offload to individuals.

Obvi the biggest problem w/ this is the colossal waste of money in underfunded schools (see 95% of ed tech) but I am also already angry on behalf of the kids who will do stupid shit to the robots and then get in trouble for it because obviously kids are gonna fuck up those robots.

My partner just confessed to writing tens of thousands of words on her phone and I have never felt so betrayed in my life. What is this Gen Z shit in our millennial household.

Recently replaced my glasses before the last possible second and then was sent two pairs by mistake so now I own three pairs and I am mad with power. Literally just packed my glasses the night before because I have other glasses to wear to night. Literally the smuggest I’ve been in years.

Never over the part where the US imprisons millions of people, including children, & disenfranchises huge numbers of folks (esp. Black men) due to felony convictions, but “giving pple second chances” rhetoric is somehow always about handing political offices to white men w/ histories of violence.
