it led to some really surreal, deeply sad hijinks where like matt walsh was like “watch this, xitter chuds: i’m gonna fool the bluesky libs by pretending to be a lesbian communist, that’ll show ‘em,” and everyone on here was like “yeah, you’re just matt walsh *block*”

Bluesky oldheads will remember that brief period of time when the conservative trolls tried to storm the place and were flummoxed by the idea they would have to organically grow an audience and that someone who didn't want to talk to them could nuke every interaction they ever had from orbit

As I listen to Spanish football experts on the advantages of the player pathway from third division to first division (they're the defending world champions). It's bizarre to expect growth in Mexican football without support to the lower divisions. It's a mess, really.

It happens so often we really need a term for it People go from epidemiology experts to political science experts to professional sports salary cap experts before I’ve even had my coffee! Tik Tok is just people parachuting in and explaining buzzy topics they don’t understand while hyperventilating

There needs to be a term for when someone tries to mansplain you a topic they learned about five minutes ago that you literally wrote the book about.

Another indication of the birth of a UEFA-Concacaf axis (90 votes out of 211 at the Fifa Congress). I'd suggested Concacaf president Victor Montagliani could be a UEFA-backed candidate at a Fifa election. Still do. I also think both may call for an extraordinary Congress to be convened.

Concacaf drops a hammer on Gianni Infantino: "This recent unilateral and egregious act of poor governance and leadership follows a pattern of missteps and similar behaviour. A comprehensive reckoning with this presidency is imperative." www.concacaf.com/news/concaca...

FIFA GOD-EMPEROR HARKONNEN INFANTINO may have finally gone too far after proposing a new commercial scheme that requires outside investment. UEFA is threatening to boycott all FIFA tournaments and CONCACAF have formally rejected the plan. Here’s my write-up of a chaotic 48 hours!

FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s greed finally pushed everyone to the limit as UEFA threatens a boycott of all FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, and CONCACAF have formally rejected FIFA’s latest proposal. The full story: lataco.com/fifa-world-c... By @afroxander.bsky.social

Whether Mitch McConnell is alive or not, the bigger issue is that numerous members of Congress have disappeared due to health issues, been rolled out to legislate while half-dead, ran for new terms while actively dying, and dropped dead in office. This is a necrocracy, from both parties.

Last summer’s protests in CDMX against gentrification also bled into accusations of the gentrification of lucha libre…but was that so? I spoke with Miguel Castro of @cmlloficial.bsky.social to understand the changes at the company in recent years and their response to these accusations.

The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre was accused of gentrifying lucha libre. The truth is more complicated and a sign of many changes happening in wrestling worldwide. The full story: lataco.com/lucha-libre-... By Ivan Fernandez
