Rep. James Clyburn says he supports expanding the Supreme Court: "13 is a pretty good number. A baker's dozen would be a good number to have on the Court."

I like cooking, music, sports (🏈🏀), politics (somewhere on the left), and blocking anyone that posts AI slop He/him
this is the same exact dynamic that drives me nuts about everyone trump nominates for anything just blanket vote against them all, if they’re being nominated it doesn’t matter what their background is or what they say in a confirmation hearing they are a villain and disqualified by definition
I don't need to know anything about any particular Republican candidate tbh. Anyone aspiring to be an officeholder in this party in the year 2026 is a villain. We're just talking about gradations of perversity
The message to progressives is literally, constantly, "We're going to support a bunch of things you oppose. No, we don't care what you think about this. You WILL vote for us. And if you criticize us for the policies you oppose, YOU are responsible for us losing because we are owed your vote"
As someone in school right now, that's not my experience. That said, I'm going into a highly specialized field, so maybe I'm an outlier.
I cannot really explain to someone who hasn't been steeped in this stuff for awhile how sudden and total the "go to college and get a good job" edict has collapsed. It's a vaccuum. And we know how nature feels about those. All we are throwing in there at the moment is A.I.
The emperor has no clothes applies to the system at large. We can't keep pretending that things work just fine and can't break. Any reform needs to be systemic, at a constitutional level. I don't know how you can just craft laws to prevent it from happening again.
I made it last night, but just had some leftovers for lunch. Was mad when my bowl was empty last night and again today 😡
Let me get this straight. Sometimes a famous person dies and everyone is nice about it? Merely because of their deeds during life?
You ever fantasize about being stuck in one of those medieval stretching torture racks? I bet that would feel so good if you tuned it in right.
ICE literally murdered constituents in broad daylight and Democrats were like well I really want to hear about the investigation and maybe we should talk about bodycams while the people they represented were still lying dead on the street. Absolute lot of cowards.
Sometimes I wonder if the usual suspects who post “Trump can’t do _____ because it’s illegal and _____ institution will stop him” even pause before they hit post. And no, they don’t. Because they’re running too fast from reality and if they even slowed it would destroy them.
With Cofnas-gate stretching into another day, it’s feeling like a good time to refresh on my friend @jonathanjarry.bsky.social’s Square One Fallacy. We do not need to pretend that every debate is starting from scratch and must remain open forever. Some things just have been disproven.
The Square One Fallacy
I recently had the chance to speak to an anti-vaxxer in person. Of course, he did not identify as such: they never do. He didn’t want to be pinned down and was just asking questions about vaccine safe...

I want the entire federal government to be brought to a complete standstill for two years. I do not want to hear anything about "working with my friends across the aisle" or any crap like that.
I do not want Democrats to figure out how they can work together to help Donald Trump enact his agenda. I want Democrats to win power and then act as a wrench in the gears of government for the rest of Trump's term. www.nbcnews.com/politics/tru...
I want to expand on this in a short thread. Fascism sucks. It is also not going away: it is an effectively permanent part of modern representative politics because it is an effectively permanent part of human nature. We have to be prepared to push back against it, basically forever.
That said, I think at this point, we can conclude that fascism is a latent political force in basically every country, to a greater or lesser degree and so you need to be thinking, "what if my country goes fascist? what if a neighboring country does?" and plan for how to avoid or deal with that.
If you’re not potty trained by now you don’t get to be in the pool with the rest of us and we’re not gonna have a civilized debate about it while the water fills up with your filth.
Sometimes society at large rejects certain ideas because they’ve been thoroughly shown to be wrong and also because they suck and the people who espouse them suck and when someone comes around arguing those ideas should be part of some edgy modern debate we can and should shun them and move on.
An incredible 5-3 double play started by David Hamilton 😮 (MLB x @NewYorkLife)
he clearly doesn't know how anything works and he fucks up literally everything he touches. Ds should leave trans people the hell alone and just go incredibly hard calling trump a fuckup. that's a bipartisan message everyone can agree on!
The Hakeem Jeffries approach to politics is why so many people today are like, "well, I guess that makes me a democratic socialist then"
Keep in mind Hakeem was meeting with Jared Kushner while he was actively marginalizing the left. What an ugly look for the guy who has positioning himself as the Democratic “leader” in the House and people wonder why Dems brand is in the toilet.
here is the thing. if you tell me that you believe that race is a biological category and that it is a guide to the objective superiority and inferiority of groups of people, i am not calling you a racist to *insult* you, i am calling you a racist because it best describes your beliefs.
not only that, they are demanding that they not be called racist when they are observed to be signing up to support the racist
When a group of people openly lay out their desire to end democracy and imprison their ideological opponents, you should treat them like the murderers they are.
the centrist Ds got their choice for president on the promise in part that they would stop trump and then they did not stop trump. it is not a huge surprise that folks are looking for other options.
In a normal parliamentary democracy, Trump would get ejected from office by losing a vote of no confidence. Everyday he says something new that the vast majority of voters hate. If only we had a government that was designed to represent the will of the people!
Trump: "If I were the mayor of a town or the governor or a state, and I had a chance to get a big data center, I would absolutely want it"
that's a pretty basic function of fiction in society, but religious texts aren't treated like any other fictional story. are the chronicles of narnia bunk? if people were treating them as uniquely authoritative on morality or factual records of history, yes, undoubtedly they would be.
one thing you can't stop seeing once you notice it is how the pundits the mainstream media platform actively punish any dem who lands on effective messaging
what is it with ex obama people and misreading the room lol? this whole thing sparked a news cycle and endless earned media, feels like a slam dunk to me
A problem they have is there's a real dearth of stories for the right-wing influencer class to talk about right now that unify their audiences because Trump's presidency has been a total disaster. This is also what feeds the WNBA obsession, etc. What are they going to talk about, the Iran war?
If the trump White House had just shut the fuck up about it and had not directly or implicitly compelled its surrogates, Cabinet level officials, GOP lawmakers, and others to talk about Natalie Harp, there would be like four news stories published instead of roughly 7,000 today
The fundraising texts you delete are working on someone. It’s infuriating and heartbreaking. An 85yo in Ohio gave more than double the value of his home. A 91yo in an Indianapolis senior facility gave 25K times. The DCCC/DSCC don’t just tolerate the spammers who exploit seniors. They take part.
Hook and Squeeze
How Democratic consultants, committees, and party leaders built a fundraising spam pipeline that funnels money from a captive pool of elderly donors into their own operations.
