literally these are books that would be pulped if not bought for 10 cents on the dollar. do rare books sometimes make it into there? yeah, if someone is careless, but that's *upstream* of what happens on sale, not *downstream*. you fundamentally are rescuing something from the fucking pulper.

there's no need to get outraged by every single thing. book destruction is not some kind of sin. it's not like they're trashing rare editions. lots of books get pulped all the time. now you're just looking for ways to be mad.

ABC with some factually incorrect statements: "In the mid-'60s, American auto manufacturers accounted for about 95 per cent of all cars sold around the world. By 2015, that had shrunk to less than half..." I've personally found them the worst at correction requests so will see how this one goes..

"Well this is awkward". The US used to to make 95% of international cars. Now about 18% and falling. ICE cars are low tech, high pollution & too expensive to buy & run. US makes 5% of EVs. China makes 75%. Oops. #Time4ChangeUSA #TheTankIsEmpty #2026MidTerms ⚖️ 🇺🇸

A reminder to get your EOFY donations in, lots of needs out there... And not wishing to sound ungrateful for local charities, the trend of being opted-in for public donations (with name and $), and having an auto add-on between 1 and 7% to cover fees (with buried removal link) is a bit annoying..

Happy AEMO ISP release day to all the energy nerds who celebrate.. One thing (of many) that amazes me is that despite Australia having the highest per capita share of rooftop solar in the world, this is forecast to triple by 2050 to meet the relevant targets. 🔌💡 www.aemo.com.au/energy-syste...

I see AC as pretty much in the same category as EVs. They are both badly required but also "required" can mean many things Minimising demand for them is good, but requires long-term structural change. Ensure those who need them get them in the short-term, to save lives www.wri.org/insights/eur...
