Last night after millions of workers marched around the world, we held a vigil in San Jose with our partners to honor and remember the immigrant workers who have been disappeared because of their precarious status or been attacked for using their right to speak up on behalf of those who cannot.🧵

There are a ton of great movies and TV shows out right now, many of them super relevant to the, uh… *unique* US political climate. Like Andor, which is showing some teeth in a second season that’s a vivid metaphor for America’s descent into authoritarianism.

The franchise’s Disney era has been defined by toothless politics, but “Andor” Season 2 is a vivid metaphor for America’s descent into authoritarianism.

Due process is firmly enshrined in the constitution. It means the government must give you notice & an opportunity to be heard BEFORE divesting you of your liberty or property—every time. There are no qualifiers. There are no terms & conditions. There are no exceptions for “illegals” or “bad guys.”

Protests aren’t the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but they’re incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation. It’s an essential step in the process.

Cordova, Alaska had about 115 people marching in the wind and rain! Afterwards we had a postcard writing session for folks to share their concerns with our congressional delegation. #handsoff

Because of the pay gap, women have lost out on more than $60 trillion in wages since 1967. Yes, trillion. On an hourly basis, women were paid 18.0% less on average than men in 2024. We must ensure fair wages for all.

It’s hard to overstate the rank greed at play here. What we’re witnessing is sociopathic indifference & disregard for humanity & social norms. All they care about is dismantling the regulatory state so they can self-deal with impunity. Anything else that happens (good or bad) is random & collateral.
