I'm back! | Field CTO at Nobl9 | Author of The SLO Book. | "SRE's Raconteur" | I like dogs more than people.

I would hire jj literally right now if it made any sense for me to do so. Which unfortunately it doesn’t. So you should hire them instead.

Company layoff is impacting me, so I'm back on the market ya'll. I'm actively looking for DevOps/SRE/OSS and adjacent type positions as an IC or manager. Ideally, I want to build dope stuff with dope people. <3

I miss my 20s. This life did actually exist. We were all broke all the time, but we also all took care of each other. Whoever had money on any particular day paid. We all had keys to each others' apartments. I miss it, but I know that's gone now.

wish my life was like a 90's movie where all my friends work in record stores and bookshops and coffee shops and we see really cool bands in small little clubs and get breakfast together and like hang out on roofs and shit

I deleted my Facebook account in 2009 and it’s had no negative impact on my life. I have since then also refused to use any Facebook products, also with no impact on my life. Sometimes people outside of the US briefly get annoyed I don’t have WhatsApp, but we always figure it out. Just delete it.

Hey Amiga fans of bluesky: would anyone be interested in buying a rare Amiga OS 4.0 developer prerelease disc? Hoping to find someone who'd really appreciate it before just posting it on eBay.

Europe cannot possibly hope to keep up with the pace of US innovation! In 2023 San Francisco, our tech capitol, invented the public restroom! No more poop on the streets!🤡 In 2024 NYC, our financial capital, invented the trash can! Fewer rats! 🤡 In 2025 LA, home of the stars, invents "mixed use!"

A real-estate developer in Los Angeles is testing a new blueprint for affordable housing: stack apartments on top of a Costco www.wsj.com/real-estate/...

I just threw away like 10 Ethernet cables, several crossovers, two Cisco cables (console cables, but my tribe always called them Cisco cables), half a dozen random AC adapters, a TV antenna, and literally every cable I had that was USB-A on one end and USB-anything else on the other. Feels good.

Anyone else remember how Solaris didn’t support a `-r` flag to the `shutdown` command but would also silently skip over it if specified so you’d have to go to the datacenter to turn it back on? Fun times.

This is your periodic reminder that Chumbawumba were an anarcho-communist punk band, and even that one song you know from the radio in the 90s is actually about the resilience of the working class who will never stop fighting against the oligarchy. Also go check out their albums from the 80s.
