Yes, I am that Alexandra Erin. No, I am not quite her anymore. Still figuring out what that means after some brain stuff happened in late 2023-early 2024. 45yo, she/her Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/AlexandraErin Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/alexandraerin

It occurs to me that this is key to breaking down one of the ways that pro-AI and anti-AI people tend to talk past each other. There are things that AI can do *for* us, and that list of things is likely to grow. But I'm not seeing any serious examples of things that AI can do *with* us.

There is no way to do anything interesting in any sustained way in any field without immersion in that field. That's just a fundamental fact of being human, and there's no getting around it.

And not just false but aggressively so—research already shows that even brief AI use erodes problem-solving skills & persistence, so in many cases using AI to do X actively makes people WORSE at it, even if it’s not giving them specific incorrect info or processes.

"By using AI to do X, it keeps me from having to do X" is a statement that's clearly true in some circumstances, though the risk that AI is going to do X badly, and often invisibly badly, is a serious one. But "by using AI when I do X, I get better at doing X" seems clearly false in all instances.

this is actually my fav part of this whole shitshow, where he argues that he needs to stay in office because of his record in fighting for the people of Ohio by....wait for it....supporting Ukraine and the ACA, both of which his party have been trying to end since day 1

TAPPER: Hold on -- hold on, 'cause I'm not done with the list of women who have accused you of violence. Are all three of them lying? REP. MAX MILLER: Yes. And I'm not getting out of the race because in 2016, President Donald J Trump faced the most extreme allegations in the world ...

British media trying to pull a Charlie Kirk over a dead racist pedophile wife-beater is just more proof that ruthlessly and brutally denazifying British news media is going to be important.

You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

#MythAugust 1: Introduction to fantasy religion. The setting of Stability has multiple layers to it, in many senses of the world, but this is especially true in the metaphysical and religious senses.

Hello #writingcommunity, welcome to Day 1 of #MythAugust! This is a worldbuilding game about ✨fantasy✨ gods, myths & religions! You can use the prompts to build up your gods, or yap about some you've already made! Today, give us a BRIEF intro (not too detailed!), & please interact with others ☺️❤️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 1:
Introduce your fantasy religion! Is it monotheistic (1 god), polytheistic (many gods), or something else?

Background image features a classic painting of Thor wielding his hammer with lightning, about to smote his enemies.

At the bottom of the image in small text it says "Feel free to yap about a fantasy mythology you already have, or use these prompts to create a new one! Don't forget to interact with others :-)"

Fuck it, I think I will take a stab at #MythAugust again this year. Whole household is sick and I am coming in five days late, but I have been reviewing my notes and want to start writing again.

I'm excited to announce that I'll be doing #MythAugust again this year, since it was so much fun last year! Have some fantasy gods you'd like to yap about? Don't have any, but would like to build some? Either way, this game is for you! NOTE: This is NOT about real religions!! #writingcommunity
