well since they did it I'm allowed to do it too, fuck you tell me when I was being an asshole I was just pointing shit out that you said was untrue but ofc that makes me rude cause I don't agree with your flawed view, and I don't read minds so I'm sorry to say I don't know about your experiences>

I love that the first point is just made up bs for the sake of making up bs like wdym "fight proton for hours" the worst you have to do is like change the version with a couple of clicks and see if it works better/worse/at all but of course a few clicks is basically like hacking the pentagon

It's better, even. Updating your Linux computer doesn't render your entire computer useless - you can use your computer while it updates. You don't have to reboot a bunch. ALL OF YOUR SOFTWARE AND YOUR OS IS UPDATED TOGETHER. I don't have to use crappy adware to use functions of some peripherals

why do people think you have to code to do anything on linux? nobody ever said that. what i said is linux *does* do the thing they use it for with less energy than windows does these days. it is simply the more functional tool for most normal computer functions now.

“I hear a lot of privacy nihilism from people, like, ‘They already have our data, they’re already surveilling us,’” EFF’s @lisafemia.bsky.social told @mercurynews.com, but surveillance isn’t inevitable. “There’s a real misunderstanding of data and its sensitivity.”

Surveillance technology is inevitable. Or is it?

From doorbell cameras to automated license plate readers, public surveillance has expanded rapidly since 2020. Is the tide finally turning? We sit down with Electronic Freedom Foundation attorney Lisa...

i generally agree with this take but there's absolutely a subset of people who go out of their way to make it known that they *don't* like using their proprietary software but will act like you just told them to hack into the pentagon when you say that the FOSS alternative addresses their complaints

Ian Coldwater 🧊🚫@lookitup.baby · 3w ago

Look, I’m an open source maintainer, and if you want people to use that FOSS software as an alternative to that proprietary software it’s good to understand why people wanted to use that proprietary software in the first place and why they might be hesitant to switch It’s not because users are dumb

i can respond to a post complaining about microsoft word by saying "libreoffice is a good alternative. it's free and doesn't have the problem you're having with microsoft word." and still get responses acting like i just told someone to put custom firmware on their router

Molotov🏳️‍⚧️Cockatiel@youknowmy.name · 3w ago

also, lol, given the state of open source documentation these days, 'reading the manual' ain't always that great speaking as someone digging through the openwrt documentation right now to figure out why the fuck her router isn't pulling updates

Head's up peeps, there's a translation out for an obscure Dreamcast RPG, Tricolore Crise, that first popped up four days ago with a first release and then a 'completion' release last night. It's LLM translated using an AI-friendly workflow tool also being developed for wider use. (1/3)

In Super Mario All-Stars, getting hit by Mouser's bomb exactly 64 frames after defeating him will make the player character assume a unique pink and blue color scheme. The colors will remain for as long as the player stays in the room.

In the Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 2, if Mouser is defeated and then the player character is hit by a bomb exactly 64 frames later while having exactly 2 health remaining...
...a glitch will occur whereby the player character's palette will change to pink and blue after Mouser's death animation.
This works for all characters. Below are their special palettes.
The colors will remain as long as the character stays in this room and does not perform a charge jump.
