If you are able to donate, please help the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs in their recovery after devastating fires and evacuation orders. Our tribal community could really use your help right now now, even as work continues to fight the fires still burning. www.zeffy.com/en-US/donati...

Wildfires have closed the main highway between the Warm Springs Reservation and Madras, so people evacuating have to drive north toward Mt Hood. The nearest hotel is an hour away, and prices are around $350 a room.

new franklin ave isn’t finished and bike path is already game changer. living in loring park it often feels disconnected from new paths on hennepin & bryant and ones downtown so these connections are huge. and esp one going east of 35, area of minneapolis that needs more safe biking infrastructure

“There have been no pesticide-related bee kills in Oregon since 2021…” This is a direct result of the Oregon legislature’s action in 2015 to restrict pesticide use. Government doing good work! Thanks @miamaldonado.bsky.social for this coverage.

Choose How You Move is a 0.5% sales tax dedicated to sidewalks, signals, transit, and safety passed by Nashville voters in 2024. It generates about $152m annually, which is around $210/person. In Bend that would be equivalent to around $20m/yr. Impressive, Nashville!

Happy WeGo service change day! This is the 4th time we’ve been able to expand #transit service in Nashville thanks to dedicated funding from Choose How You Move. Biggest improvements are workforce route to airport and Opry Mills. www.wegotransit.com/community/se...

The question is not whether we have flaws. Anyone can see we have plenty of them! The question is whether we have what it takes to fix them. Let us celebrate while dedicating ourselves to a kinder America where rule of law prevails and prosperity is widely shared. Happy 250th Birthday, USA!

An American flag is lowered at the end of the day at Arlington Cemetery. White clouds and a blue sky are visible in the background. The Washington Monument is visible on the left side.

Today I'm thinking about liberty and justice for all and how we'll keep striving to get there. Throwing off tyrants is in our country's DNA. Let's be with friends and family today in celebration of our community and our care for each other. Happy Independence Day! See you at the pet parade! 🐶🇺🇸

Does any city do a good job helping match tenants with homes? I basically want a municipal version of Zillow with filters for Affordable Housing availability based on AMI, Section 8, etc.

Pictured is a roundabout pre-constructed for expansion to accommodate drivers who don't even exist yet. We need the same level of rigorous planning to apply for sidewalks, bike paths, and transit, too!

A google streetview of SE 15th and SE Murphy in Bend, OR. A large single-lane roundabout shows a gray area on the left with a red arrow pointing to it. The gray area is actually space for an additional motor vehicle lane that hasn't yet been constructed.

Who is a Bend or Eugene single-stair enthusiast? @rjsheperd.com says pnwdreams.org is considering expanding and they are looking for partners. Curious about how nice single-stair construction can be? Check it out! (Maybe @holz-bau.bsky.social knows some of his Oregon counterparts?)

Bend's crowdsourced urban tree inventory is a key tool to preserving and expanding our urban tree canopy. Planting more trees is one of the best things a city can do to mitigate the effects of hotter climate. Learn more about the Bend Tree Project: bendoregon.gov/departments/...

People need trees. The best human habitats include trees, particularly in rapidly warming cities. There's always room for trees.
