Walking home just now. Felt like a liminal space between a cheap kind of magic and the desperately real
We could have trifectas in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania next year (if you want it).
Gametime. 3️⃣
What's bizarre about the McConnell situation is that it's clear that somehow both parties have gamed it out and concluded that they most benefit from Undead Senator Who Can't Vote But Can't Be Replaced.
Are there real people out there who keep unflattering pictures of Rashida Tlaib on their camera roll? Maybe. Do they have cartoon avatars and want to talk about Uncommitted while pretending to speak for Black voters in Michigan? That’s a troll farmer.
Occassional reminder that bot posts with splitter / wrecker messaging will get a lot more common as the midterms ramp up. Recommend blocking them and moving on. Also suspect a lot of the “get every liberal to 1k follower” accounts were setups for this sort of thing.
Filthy dirty San Francisco just this weekend!
Trump: "Look at the blue cities. What do they have in common? They're all dirty. They're filthy dirty. Their streets are dirty. Their streets smell. Their storefronts are broken. Their trees are all gross. Everything about the place is dirty. It's really all of them."
And I sincerely believe that candidates should make a point of saying Republicans want to spend all their time looking in your daughter's underpants and giving tax breaks to billionaires instead of making sure families can eat and afford a place to live.
Wonderful future-visioning article, in which AI-everywhere is not posited as the answer
Early on @coyotemedia.org made a list of dream bylines we'd LOVE to have on the site and @annaleen.bsky.social was one of the first on it for me. So stoked to see this piece about ~~speculative transit~~ and big dreams for the Bay Area. www.coyotemedia.org/funding-bay-...
And you can look fabulous while doing it! On many issues, from transit to trans rights, a little organizing is all it takes to shift opinion in the party, even in big states like CA. Whether you love spreadsheets or love to dance, we've got a place for you in the @cademocrats.bsky.social party!🌈🌟✅
You too can sit in a hotel conference room on a beautiful weekend and help set the direction of the California Democratic Party. I jest but democracy is really about rolling up your sleeve and getting involved at whatever level. Don’t like the results? Go be that change
The baby cousin getting down at the wedding. He’s was so deep in it the whole night. I was dying at his commitment to the boogie ❤️❤️
It’s frustrating that the large cities of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are being destroyed while the world just watches.
This is absolutely wild. We cannot predict the future of our technologies, as much as we want to think we can.
They are also terraforming the desert. energiesmedia.com/solar-panels...
It's funny when Trump talks about communists. Putin was a communist for over half his life. Both of Trump's wives were born in the Soviet Union. Melania's parents were communists. I wouldn't be surprised if Ivana's parents were, also. So Trump is not afraid of communists. He loves them.

Is Turning 70 A Big Deal, Or, Saturday Morning at 8:44am - Privilege
As I’ve said, in two months, give or take a day, I’ll turn 70. I feel like I’ve been the same age since I turned 35, maybe 40, and now, surprisingly, whole new age! Not to sound preposterous, but I fi...

i keep narrating pokémon like im werner herzog and it makes my niece and nephew crack up despite not knowing who that is. "i am driven by a compulsion to capture the creatures in plastic and airless prisons... these creatures, so small and vivacious... i must capture and subdue zem all"
roasted by my 9 year old nephew who confidently told me if i was a pokemon i would be psyduck "because he is always worried and runs around holding his head because he has a headache"
I’m kind of serious btw I fully anticipate in my lifetime that at least one billionaire will attempt to clone themselves like IVF. Keep a couple spares around to put in rockets or reheat later on
The uber wealthy used to build libraries, parks and museums to gain favor with the public, now they buy elections.
Billionaires have already poured $433 million into the 2026 midterm elections—and 80% of it is going to Republicans.

How the Pro-Trump Media Ecosystem Is Splintering Ahead of the Midterms (Gift Article)
Once united in support of President Trump, right-wing influencers are embroiled in feuds and losing viewers, creating a problem for Republicans in the midterm elections.

oh is it caravan season again it always comes around so fast
Trump: "If we're not in office our country will be invaded at levels that make Spain look small time. That's gonna be a talking point for the midterms."
Black voter in the south here and this is happening, but it's understated just how much further left the Republicans have driven black voters...and a lot of us were already pretty far left.
"A new analysis of Black voters in the South indicates that Republican attempts to dilute their political power is driving them to the polls in larger numbers and shifting their counties further left."
Watch to see which of the people on BlueSky who purport to be on the left side of the aisle who join forces with Elon Musk to attack Democrats in 2026 too.
If you've ever struggled to figure out which politicians are most committed to the interests of the ultra-rich who oversaw hacks into the $5T Treasury payment system and led USAID cuts that will kill millions... just watch who he supports. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/30/u...
"wahhhhh I couldn't go to restaurants and there were not-at-all-enforced orders to stay at home for a few months" ok but this could have ended up with your plague-ridden corpse shoveled into a mass grave and burned alongside 50,000 others
About ten years ago there were a spate of arsons at new apartments in Oakland right around when left NIMBYs and DSA started making violent and aggressive threats online against YIMBYs. There's no way to deny the existence of a violent and dangerous faction on the far left that *will act violently.*
So Will asked a completely reasonable question about Mamdani’s grocery store policy and now he’s had his tires slashed. Really a banner day for the “dogpiling and abuse aren’t a thing” and “this is all just jokes” crowd
