We have similar in car-dependent Kansas City suburbs that encroach into former farmland ever further out from the urban core. Absolutely massive houses, always a big truck out front, that feel like giant financial and life traps, cannot fathom the appeal and you couldn't pay me to live in one.

The president took on a vanity project, gave no-bid contracts to contractors who screwed it up, made up a story about vandals to cover it up, and then fomented a felony prosecution against an innocent scapegoat. Sure it's farcical, but it's also a brutal legal attack on a man they knew to be innocent, done to distract from their own thievery and incompetence and as a flex to terrify anyone who might make them look bad.
