For the millionth time: if you have 200k followers, "Protect trans women" includes resisting the opportunity to dunk on what you think is a mild bad take. Protecting trans women means having even the slightest bit of restraint when it comes to directing thousands of eyes at an account for a gotcha.

Alt text is also crucial for muted words! If you post a screencap of some controversial subject or shitty person's post, your commentary might not directly mention the name or subject, but if it's in the alt text describing the image, then it will still get filtered for the people opting out.

Wouldn't this be a sign of huge success and need to expand? I spent 15yrs managing retail, incl organizing a big bookstore's midnight event for the last terf wizard book at 20yrs old. Maybe the first two days are chaotic, but retail workers figure out quick how to manage crowds and pacify customers

This is exactly how Jordan Peterson got famous-- dramatically willfully misconstruing basic harassment protocols. If it's an accident, nothing happens. But if there was a shy cis guy at work who the manager regularly refers as "her" or calls Emily, that is clear workplace bullying. It's very easy.

Look, if it is a genuinely honest error, most people I know, including myself, aren't going to make a fuss beyond maybe a gentle clarification first time. If people wilfully misgender trans and non-binary individuals though they absolutely should face misconduct proceedings.
