Strong piece. The deeper problem isn’t just algorithmic bias. - AI changes the behaviour of both sides: applicants optimise for the screeners, employers automate to handle the volume, and recruitment becomes a conversation between two systems rather than a test of capability.

Lot of talk at the moment about how AI recruitment discriminates against older people. I looked into just how opaque the software is for @thenewworldmag.bsky.social. The firms behind it won’t talk to journalists. Meanwhile, it’s destroying people’s lives. www.thenewworld.co.uk/ros-taylor-s...

I've been around long enough to recognise when someone's pulling my chain, and this bloke set the radar off from the first time I saw him. Nothing changes that view, and this is another perfect representation of all that's wrong with this kind of business culture.

I wrote about the weird and vaguely-psychotic test you're asked to take when being recruited by Steven Bartlett - this is quite fun, even if I do say so myself: www.thenewworld.co.uk/matt-muir-ap...

This isn’t halftime entertainment. Halftime entertainment is two blokes dragged from the stands and wearing replica shirts two sizes too small for them trying and failing to score penalties past the club mascot in the hope of winning a free oil change from the garage that is matchball sponsor.

Children's birthday parties are better in the morning than the afternoon. Afternoon parties lead to excited kids struggling to shift into relaxing mode and then bed. But if the party's over by lunchtime they have the whole afternoon to recover from a cake overdose.
