Well I made it to Litomyšl for the Jan Švankmajer: Reliquaries and Fetishes exhibition at Miroslav Kubik Gallery! What a thrill, got to meet a couple of bonafide movie stars in the White Rabbit and Little Otik. Also great to see some brand new pieces for 2026 - 92 and still going strong..!

⚡️IT’S HERE!⚡️ Ruined temples, living myths, riddles and enigmas, Medieval mystics, a gas-lit world of secret societies and energy grids, psychedelic revivals, and sonic experiments at the City of the Dead. 👉🏼 Gaze into the eyes of the sphinx and pre-order The Mystery Issue on helleborezine.com

Well, if it’s 23 September... YES, THAT’S RIGHT! It’s the 72nd anniversary of the hunt for the Gorbals Vampire, in which hundreds of children aged from four to 14, armed with dogs, knives, and sharpened sticks went looking for an urban myth

Daily Mirror front page shows grainy image of horde of children in a cemetery, and the headline “Amazing scene as hundreds of children rush cemetery”

'Gangsters has a terrific soundtrack, again anticipating Tarantino. A careful placement of soul, mod and rock standards, ‘Take Good Care Of Yourself’, ‘Keep On Running’ and ‘Suspicious Minds’, mirror the plot.' An English Western: The BBC’s Gangsters at 50 buff.ly/2Pq74Lq

Still from the BBC TV series Gangsters. An Indian man with a gun in his hand taking cover behind a wooden beam.

One of my favourite shots in #PendasFen . Rudkin in the script only ever asked that we see a “mouldering wall” over Elgar’s shoulder, but it is Alan Clarke and Michael Williams who decide to make it a full POV tracking shot of the imagined landscape. Even Stephen’s visions are having visions now.

A wall on which Elgar imposes his vision of the Malvern landscape. As we stare, the camera tracks across the brickwork.Shooting script:

ELGAR: I come to look at the world, you see. The lovely world. The silver river and the verdant valley. The beautiful world. Look, look… The beautiful world..!

He raises his hand to point ahead: he may see the Severn Valley, Cotswold, Bredon. CAMERA, COLDLY BEHIND ELGAR, SQUARELY SEES ONLY THE MOULDERING WALL HIS POINTING HAND ALMOST TOUCHES.
