The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

This is pretty god damn bleak. Amnesty has withstood pressure from murderous dictators and genocidal regimes and yet they caved to lawfare from JK Rowling. This effectively means no domestic UK organization can criticize Rowling or GC orgs without risk of being destroyed by endless lawfare.

Haven’t shown face in a while, so here’s a Throwback Thursday to 1969. Ok, last Thursday when Brandon invited me (et al.) to perform for a themed dinner at his job. There were tech issues w/my solo, but by then, members were singing along, so we finished “Mercedes Benz” a capella. Thanks, Janis ✌️

A man and woman in Woodstock-inspired outfits.

Janis Joplin didn’t actually record “Mercedes Benz” until a year after the festival but none of the paying people cared so you should let it go, too.

What kills me about the virulent anti trans people is that it is cruelty for cruelty's sake. They weren't ever harmed by a trans person, nor has anyone they know ever been harmed. Minding your own fucking business and not being performatively cruel IS an option, and a viable one.

I understand that it sucks to have to read a book you didn't choose as a kid but when people are like 40 and still going, "well assigned reading turned me off from reading" it's like, ok but you're 40. No one has assigned you a book in like 20 years.

Here's what happened this week in North Carolina politics. [Friday, July 17, 2026] There are dirty tricks afoot at the State Board of Elections, and if they can win some elections by cheating, that's what they're going to do.

Your vote should be a no, Tillis. A flat fucking no. He has no intention of ever releasing the files and you know this. Don't waffle. Don't condition. Don't prevaricate. For once, do NOT be gutless and face something head on.

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said Thursday his vote to confirm U.S. attorney general nominee Todd Blanche is dependent on whether Blanche meets with the survivors of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in the next two weeks. https://to.pbs.org/4aWfxLJ

No science fiction could have prepared us for just how stupid the end of the world can be. "The environment was on the brink of collapse, and so, rather than deal with that, we burned what fuel we had left getting computers to scam each other for money."

it’s hard to explain how much shit like this has radicalized people. like i’m a white middle-aged broad who’s always been liberal but i’ve gone full-on “abolish ICE/reform scotus/the next dem candidate must commit to mass prosecutions” and you will not sway me from that position.

WHOA DHS does not say that the agent feared for his life… just the vague concern for “public safety.” So he killed him just because he did not want him in America, not because of any specific threat to agents?

Tee hee. So excited to soon have a Senator who represents me again. Not to count chickens before they hatch, but Whatley has a proven track record of screwing over NC from supporting Mark Robinson to NOT supporting those devastated by Hurricane Helene. Let’s keep reminding people of that!
