Request to fellow Dems of all stripes: Let's keep our analyses of primary results positive, recognizing that we're all in this together. I've heard some poisonous stuff behind the scenes recently. It helps no one. A diverse party energized by new ideas, voters & candidates is what we need now.
It’s nice to see Senga smile, for a change. Spent the whole season, so far, looking defeated. #NYMets
I had, somehow, never read this story. You could say a lot about the mastery of craft in it, and probably someone has, but for now I’m just sitting in silence. I will be thinking about this story for a long time.
Read it here if you haven't yet. Today is the very best day of all days to read it for the first time. short-stories.co/@raybradbury...
yes we are gatekeeping how people get dopamine. We have done this since society began. For instance, we arrested John Wayne Gacy for chasing dopamine his preferred way
So now we are gatekeeping how one obtains dopamine? The big takeaway from posts like yours and the rest comes down to: Questioning his claim because it is not your experience, so therefore something is amiss.
See 2026 on right? It’s the hottest the El Niño subsurface has ever been measured. If we are being honest, we have to do serious research into how excess heat due to climate change (90% stored in Ocean) likely fuels stronger El Nino’s. To no one’s surprise, stored heat is coming back to haunt us!
Another El Niño Record! Watch as heat back ups at the end. The heat building below the surface, which fuels El Niño, is higher than ever measured. This shows the heat just below the Trop Pacific sfc, moving from the W.Pacific Warm Pool where it’s stored, to the E. Pacific Sfc where El Niño forms 1/

So much talk about the myth, not enough about the art and archaeology of the Odyssey! Let's change that
Everyone's comparing Nolan's Odyssey to Homer, but I think there's much more richness The ancient Greeks adapted the Odyssey into ART While these images might appear static to us, I want to walk through how an ancient Greek saw art: AS DYNAMIC STORYTELLING like our films 1/13
Today's newsletter is all about U.S. hurricane landfalls in August – where they form and where they strike. August is typically Texas's big hurricane month while Florida's risk carries into October. Plus what we're following off the southeast next week. ⬇️

Witnessing history. Here’s what the CFS seasonal model ensemble forecast mean looks like for this El Niño against the distribution of all El Niño events on record. The colored dots represent the strongest El Nino’s. The red dot 🔴 way out in right field is the CFS peak for November… 1/ 🧵
I genuinely don't know what to do about this. In our diseased information environment, one MAGA-adjacent "influencer" can do more to shape public opinion than mountains of studies or facts. Where are the pro-clean-energy influencers to counter this shit?

#Florida seniors will have one big reason to vote against every GOP candidate on the ballot.
“The decision means that millions of Americans 65 and older could face higher Medicare drug premiums next year, when the cost of living is already a major concern… In the weeks leading up to November, Medicare beneficiaries could experience sticker shock while shopping for next year’s drug plan”

Try to donate blood if you can, the Red Cross is saying there’s a dire shortage. A lot about the present moment can feel truly overwhelming and leave us feeling helpless, but you still have a ton of power in your hands if you choose to use it.

I’ve reported at length about abuses of foreign farmworkers who come to the U.S. on H-2A visas: stolen wages, guns pointed in their faces. One woman I met was kidnapped, raped and nearly killed. I wanted to know: How do I tell if the produce I buy is part of the problem? 👇
That book inspired the 1995 Oklahoma City federal building bombing, which killed 167 people, including a bunch of kids in the building's day care center. In case you wondered how dangerous this rhetoric is.
Would assume everyone knows it by now, but just in case "First the traitors, then the invaders" is an explicit reference to The Turner Diaries, where a white supremacist revolution overruns "The System" and kills all their enemy during the evocatively named "Day of the Rope".

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.
Probably more helpful to think of them not so much as “Canadian wildfires” but rather “climate change wildfires currently consuming Canada”
